Still scoreless bottom of the third inning, Rays and Guardians down at the top. Right now, man on third for the Cleveland Guardians, but he will not score as a ground out to second will end the third inning. Live total four and a half Rays still the favorites at minus one fifty three. So scoreless after three, the total closed at seven. You laid some juice on that total towards the under. And right now, scoreless between the Guardians and the Rays. Got a couple of college football games going on. We'll update you on those in a little bit. But let's head to our progressive guest line. And Matt, you know what?
Our next guest, the professor VSiN contributor, lifelong Charger fan. I know you would like to talk to your friend about the tough start to the season for the Chargers.
Matt Youmans (1:56)
Well, I don't know. I don't think this is going to be pleasant for him to talk about this because over the summer Aaron Moore hit me up and he was like, you know, I think Justin Herbert's got a great shot to be MVP.
I know we've moved past that at this point, the professor. How do you feel about the Chargers right now? They're 0-5 and headed to Kansas City as 8.5 point dogs this week. Are the Chargers going to start 0-9 or do you think they will spring an upset here soon?
Aaron Moore (2:24)
First of all, Matt, who the hell was that guy who actually thought Justin Herbert could be NFL MVP?
Boy, do I think they have any chance and I don't even know. I think that line is just too low. If you look at it, besides the Chargers playing so poorly, besides Justin Herbert throwing the ball around the offensive line, they just don't have NFL quality players. You've got Andy Reid coming off of a buy. There's probably no better bankable commodity in the NFL than Andy Reid coming off a buy. I was surprised it was 8 I thought it was really going to be closer to 10 So I think the Chargers season, if they do get wins, it's coming against the Jets, it's coming against Miami. If it actually happens, I think you're just having a disastrous season for the Chargers, Miami, Tennessee, that you really do start looking at maybe one of these teams is on a crash course for a winless season.
It could be the Chargers.
Matt Youmans (3:31)
All right, to make matters worse, Lad McConkey, top wide receiver, has been on the sideline with Shaun Slater, Joe Alt injured out of there. The Chargers are at insult to injury, as bad as it can get right now. And Jim Harbaugh has got no answers. So when I'm talking with you yesterday, we're looking at the NFL draft. Chargers might end up with the number one pick. If they get it, you got to think it's Jeremiah Smith. Even if it's not the Chargers, it might be Jeremiah Smith.
So, Professor, talk about the draft bet that you have made here on the wide receiver from Ohio State.
Aaron Moore (4:07)
Yeah, Matt, I really like this. And perhaps that's one of the upsides of the Chargers' bad season, that me and other Chargers fans are already looking at the NFL draft. And I went to Draft Kings, I went to FanDuel, looked around, and now that number one overall pick is available.
And I was expecting Jeremiah Smith to be close to even money. And when I saw him at plus 230, I took that at FanDuel, I was really surprised because you look at all of these quarterbacks, you could break them down in a number of ways. And guys, I just don't see a team drafting Mestemaker, Manning, CJ Carr, Mensa, Chambliss, Moore.
