Nine baseball games going on right now, and we are tracking everything, although the Cleveland Guardians are one strike away from that becoming eight games going on, because they are down to their last strike, San Francisco with a one-nothing lead at the bottom of the ninth two outs in Cleveland, and the Guardians have their favorites, and we get caught looking the old backwards K to end the game. Giants win one-nothing, got about a plus 220 underdog with a rookie making his first career start, goes two innings of shutout ball. Adrian Hauser takes over, gets the wind, I believe, and that's where we, so we're now down to eight games. I'm Doug Kezirian here downtown Las Vegas at the Circus Resort and Casino, joined with Will Hill on the East Coast, a little coast to coast action. Will, how about that performance from the Giants and really from that Guardians lineup trying to make the postseason?
**Will Hill** (1:09)
Yeah, it was just like a few minutes into our show, Doug. I want to say maybe the second segment. Devers hit a line drive to center field. They had a shift where if you were playing straight up, you would have caught it. All right. Lead off double in a game where a team is a two-to-one dog, not a big deal.
Then with a man on third and two out, there was a little ground ball to shortstop in the hole. It was knocked down but not fielded cleanly. In field single, one nothing. All right, you'll live with it. One nothing. One run in a game where a team is a two-dollar dog, probably not going to hold up. Well, it held up. Cleveland had their chances. They put guys on base. This was about even money. And the market just kept thinking Cleveland was going to push one across the tie and eventually win it, where Cleveland was minus 110, man on second, nobody out. But San Francisco wins, Cleveland loses.
And then, boy, this race for the wild card spot, the final one in the American League, I don't even know if you can call it a sprint. It's more of a, I don't know, a crawl. Is it the Twins? Is it the Rangers? Is it Texas? Is it Baltimore? Is it Toronto? We got like a seven, eight way kind of race here for mediocrity. And that being said, Doug, baseball does not reseed. You get the sixth seed, you get the ALS winner, maybe Houston, and then you possibly get the White Sox as the two seed, where neither of us like any of these teams. But I don't care who you are, you get the sixth spot, you got a reasonable path to the ALCS as crazy as that sounds.
**Doug Kezirian** (2:29)
Yeah, let's call it a mosh pit, because that's really what it looks like in the standings. And it looks like the Dodgers draw first blood. They had runners on the corners, top second, first and third, Kike Hernandez with a nice piece of hitting on the outside part of the plate, just lunges and pokes it to center. So the Dodgers lead one nothing. They still have runners on here. So a big spot for LA behind Roki Sasaki against Kyle Freeland, who's only given up one earned and three straight starts. Dodgers do get to them, so they get a run home. And I believe it is first and second with two outs now. And once you know, oh, I thought it was Tucker. No, Tucker got a base hit. Wow.
**Will Hill** (3:07)
There you go.
**Doug Kezirian** (3:08)
So the catcher they added, Rortvel, because Will Smith's hurt, Felton Rushing's hurt. So they had to go get some guys and kind of piecemeal. It's probably some people speculates why their pitching has been a little shaky because there's no continuity with the catcher and everything. You get a first pitch swing on a ball, which is so stupid.
So pop out. So that ends the top half of the second one, nothing Dodgers as they head to the bottom of the second with Kyle Freeland on the bump for Colorado and Sasaki for LA. There's been some drama at Camden Yards. I think the Polar Bear went yard right to tie the game at three. So we're three three at Camden Yards with the Yanks and Orioles bottom seven two out.
**Will Hill** (3:51)
Yeah, I've been saying this. It feels like the Yankees every time you look up in the sixth, seventh inning, it's one nothing. It's one one. It's two two tonight. It's a little high scoring. It's three three. So that under nine is in a little bit of trouble. You're probably on the right side of it without looking at the the live line. You're probably slightly on the right side of it, but barely.
