We're off and running on a Tuesday evening alongside Matt Youmans. I'm Tim Murray. Matt, one week from today, you and I will be in Honolulu, but we still have seven days until we get out to the islands for our live show. So we need to focus for the next week until we board a plane out to Honolulu. We'll talk more about our adventure later on in the show, but we've got lots of baseball going on in front of our eyes. And real quickly, Matt, I know this network has had all day to recap what we witnessed last night. And Dustin Sweetilson, live on the air, got to react to a walk-off homer from PCA. But I would say tip of the cap to us, pretty good game of the night last night. White Sox and Cubs might have been the best game of the night we've had in a long time.
**Matt Youmans** (2:00)
Yeah, it's true, Tim, but we can't pat ourselves on the back too much for that. I mean...
**Tim Murray** (2:04)
I'd like to. I'd like to, though.
**Matt Youmans** (2:06)
Hey, I think a chimpanzee could have picked that game as the game of the night last night. White Sox, Cubs.
**Tim Murray** (2:11)
I don't know, they might have picked something else.
**Matt Youmans** (2:15)
We want to go with it again tonight? We'll decide here in a few minutes if we're going to go with it again tonight. Cubs, you know, I said it was about two weeks ago that White Sox, Red Sox game won extra innings. It was probably the best game of the year. Yeah. Last night might have been a top 10 game. It was incredible the way it started and the way it finished in Pete Crow Armstrong with a lead off homer and a walk off homer.
And was that his MVP moment last night? Well, it's too early to say. I really think this Shohei Otani PCA battle is going to go to the wire. And especially if Shohei comes back to pitch more soon, which looks like that's going to be the case.
**Tim Murray** (2:51)
Now, here's the thing. And now you could have got much better numbers at different times. But last night we were on the air and you mentioned you would take PCA plus money. It was plus 115
**Matt Youmans** (3:01)
But I didn't take it.
**Tim Murray** (3:03)
Now you could get Shohei Otani at plus money. DraftKings has him at plus 125 at this very moment. So we've seen a shift and it's just going to keep bouncing back and forth, you would imagine, over the next six weeks or so. We've got some sound we'll get to a little bit later on in this hour from some folks who are boots on the ground, talking to different players and who they think could win NL MVP. But what a performance last night for PCA. Not too shabby, by the way, for Shohei Otani, who also hit two home runs last night, but it was against the Rockies. It wasn't a lead off Homer on the first pitch that he saw, and then a walk off Homer, his first of his career, first time since 1957
We have seen a player hit a Homer in the first pitch that his team faced, and then a walk off Homer. So pretty rarefied air for PCA as he gets it done last night. But Matt, before we dive into the game still to come, we do have a big series going on in Baltimore. The Yankees, owners of the top wild card spot in the American League, and the Baltimore Orioles, who did lose last night, failed to complete that four game sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays, but the Baltimore Orioles somehow some way, right there in the thick of it for that final wild card spot. Scoreless headed to the bottom of the second between the Yankees and the Orioles.
