We're an hour away from kickoff across the college football world. What a performance we saw last night from Malachi Tony, not too shabby of a debut from Darien Mensah down there with the U. Now, it wasn't at the U, it was the, how about this, regarding last night's 45-6 Miami win, it was the longest travel, one-way travel for any conference matchup this year, I believe on the Continental US because we know the distance from Hawaii to DeKalb will be quite the travel, but 2,565 miles between Stanford and Miami last night. And the debut for Darien Mensah, shout out to ESPN last night, first ACC quarterback with 400-plus passing yards and five passing touchdowns and a season opener since Matt Ryan in 2007

Darien Mensah, now your Heisman favorite after one game, but it was a pretty damn impressive game, wasn't it? Hey, if you remember, we did a VSIN draft amongst all of us here at VSIN. There were 130 picks in our futures draft. And if you are curious about those selections, well, guess what? We put it together in a little PDF. It's free, vsin.com/download, vsin.com/download. So you could check out all the picks that we made in our futures draft, and you could check it out and keep tabs on us, vsin.com/download.

College Football is back. Can't wait for today. We've got games kicking off in less than an hour. Chuck Esposito, we call him the professor around these parts, less than 15 minutes away. And en route to Zippy's probably in Honolulu. Matt Youmans, bottom of the hour, his favorite plays. And we'll also get an update on the pending weather. Could we see any remnants of that hurricane that was kind of lurking around in the islands this week? Early on in the week, it looked like it was going to be pretty bad, maybe not as bad as we anticipated. We just got some great insight from our guy, Ian Fitzsimmons, down there in the bayou, giving us some insight there. And the thing that I think a lot of us better specifically, we just want to see games, right? We just want these games to happen. We're done with the legal jargon and all of that. But what we do know, as it was reported last night, is that LSU did not add Day Quan Wright and Zavian Harris to the team's roster. They did add Junior Tuli Alamaka, who was added from Notre Dame just a couple weeks ago, as he is going to be the 5-for-5, but he did not go to pro camp. Let's hear from Lane Kiffin on his mindset on adding pro players potentially to the LSU roster.

Lane Kiffin (3:16)

I feel like my decision should always be made in the best interest of the players that sit in this team room. And not for my reputation and how the decisions play in the national media or other fan bases. I've never been that way and that could be wrong. It's probably part of my story why it is the way it is. But those players and the people that hire me always know he's constantly trying to do the best thing for them. So I struggled with it a lot.

There's a lot of factors into it and different things. And one that I struggled with too was, okay, this late, even though that's what you do in the NFL. And there's an argument these players are paid like that. And it's what happened yesterday in the NFL. New players come in and take people's spots and added to rosters. Other guys have been there working. So I met with our leadership committee of our players. And I asked them, what's your team?

What do you want to do? And if these players are allowed to be added to rosters, what do you want to do? And every one of them was emphatic about, they can help us win, bring them.

Tim Murray (4:26)

Well, they won't be on the roster today. We will see as the time goes. This from attorney Ryan Downton of the Texas Trial Group. Quote, LSU has made a measured decision to keep these two young men off the roster for now while preserving a path for them to be added later. Everyone should use that space to lower the temperature and look at the facts. Neither player was drafted, made an NFL roster, a practice squad, or even played a preseason game. One received just $190 in gas money, and one never participated in a single practice because of a college injury. So there you go. Let's play some damn football. LSU Clemson tonight, number sitting at 10, 10 and a half. I didn't get time to tell E in my theory behind this game. I've mentioned it here on the show.
