We begin the Monday morning edition of VSiN By The Books. I'm Dave Ross right here at the Midgaming Hall in Franklin, Kentucky, inside our VSiN studio overlooking beautiful circus sports behind me. Jensen Lewis, our closer, back home in the city of Cleveland. They're waking up this morning, Jensen Lewis. Maybe very excited about one team, a little sadder about another, but still it felt like for maybe the last 24 hours or so, Cleveland has been at the epicenter of sports.
Jensen Lewis (1:19)
Well, at least the state of Ohio. And welcome back, buddy. Good to have you.
And certainly, you know, one of those spots, when Dustin and I were signing off on Friday, I was like, you know, kind of a lot's happening here in the heart of it all. Obviously, Ohio State, Indiana, what a thriller that was. Can't believe the luck that Ohio State received. Obviously, all kinds of implications. With Julian saying, gonna be missing several weeks.
What happened with the baseball playoffs? So we head back to Tampa Bay. What a wild weather weekend, buddy, that we went through here. It was something else, but welcome to Cleveland. And then I still can't believe we're saying it out loud. First place, Cleveland Browns. Don't wake me up, don't wake me up. September's already ended, don't wake me up. But it's wild to see, looking at the standings here this morning.
Dave Ross (2:06)
Somebody needs to wake up the Dallas Cowboys though, because it was not all sunshine for those guys last night in Green Bay. And Jensen Lewis is gonna talk a lot about what we saw in the NFL, certainly college football, major league baseball. But let's begin right there in Green Bay with our highlights and headlines.

Help your bottom line with today's highlights and headlines.
Dave Ross (2:32)
If you told me that the Cowboys would hold the Packers to 23 points with a total that was well over 50 in this one on Sunday Night Football, you'd say, well, the Cowboys have a pretty good shot to pull this one out. No, never really in it either. 23-13 is the final score here.
And Jensen, maybe two teams starting to go in different directions here. We'll see if the Cowboys can course correct. But for Sunday Night, it's Green Bay, that with two straight impressive wins, Jensen, their season feels like it's back on track.
Jensen Lewis (3:00)
Yeah, it certainly does. I tell you the two things that stuck out to me most surprisingly, Dallas shut out in the first half, did not have that on my bingo card. You mentioned it off the top. I mean, you got two offenses that were probably in good position to take advantage of two leaky defenses. Well, it looked like Green Bay has figured out a couple of things and solved maybe some of their riddle here in 2026
Still getting put on their backs are the Dallas Cowboy defensive units. And it's kind of getting late early. I know they brought in Mike Petten to try and help. I don't know how much help he gave, but it is what it is right now. And I think you joked about it before you left last week. Is the NFC East turning into the NFC South of years gone by, where a sub-500 record might end up winning this division? Cowboys, a couple of opportunities the last few weeks, Dave, to be able to take advantage of some slip ups ahead of them. But no dice here on Sunday night in Lambeau Field.
Dave Ross (4:01)
Yeah, and it's a disappointing one at two and four now that the offense really was the culprit here. And turnovers, obviously, Dak Prescott was on his back all night long. That offensive line absolutely overpowered by that Green Bay defense. It did not have Micah Parsons. He stays well under that total of 53 and a half. Packers cover all numbers, and at some point they had flipped to being that they were the favorite, they were the dog, they close as the dog again, and yet cash all those tickets if you're on the Green Bay Packers. Well, we talked about this one too. Arizona, they go into SoFi yesterday, and all they do is kick field goals on the road, which is supposed to be a no-no in this league, six of them, and they get the win outright, 18-16. You didn't need the 12-and-a-half, and it's the Super Bowl bound Rams, five to one at the beginning of the year. And they also are two and four. Jensen, how do we make sense of this one?
