It is the Wednesday morning edition of VSiN By The Books. I'm Dave Ross right here at the mid-gaming hall, Franklin, Kentucky, inside our VSiN studio, overlooking beautiful circus sports. He is our closer Jensen Lewis, back home in Cleveland, Ohio. I guess my man, hey, one-one, not too bad. We're going to break down the game, you tell me that Mother Nature might have something to say about this series when the venue shifts back to where you are.

Jensen Lewis (0:36)

I just wait 24 hours and the weather will change here in Cleveland this time of year, Dave. So we have been a tradition unlike any other, getting four seasons in one week. So, you know, whatever it says today, it could be different tomorrow. However, kind of the way we drew it up yesterday, we thought the Rays would respond. They did. We'll break that down upcoming, but tomorrow looks okay right now for game three. It's Friday that looks a little dicey for game four.

And oh, by the way, just kind of a decent sports weekend here in the state of Ohio. We've got ALCS game three, four and five. We got a kind of a game between two big schools in Ohio state and Indiana. And oh, by the way, the battle for the top spot in the AFC North between the Old Browns and the New Browns and Baltimore and Cleveland. So it's safe to say we're scheduled out here in Northeast Ohio for the rest of the week and the weekend.

Dave Ross (1:28)

Lots going on with all due respect to Michigan. Not saying it's a new rivalry with the Ohio state and Indiana, but it's starting to percolate a little bit there as we're getting to get a pretty good match up there between those two schools this weekend. Great show that we have lined up here on this Wednesday. JVT Jonathan Von Tobel is going to join us later on in this very hour. And how about the power hour to round out the show today? Roy Philpott is going to join us, of course, does a great job calling games on ESPN. Adam Burke talking more about those guardians and then some everything going on at the network as well. That NBA betting guide is out in our Wednesdays with Wes West-Reynolds, the great Wes Reynolds will join the program. I'm sure I'll have something to say about that Indiana-Ohio State game as well. But Jensen, we mentioned it, the guardians had a chance to take a commanding lead in this series. The Rays say not so fast, all even. That's where we begin, our highlights and headlines.

You know, there are so many jokes on social media of, you know, why can't the Mets get a guy like a fastball Freddie or, you know, go out there and shove in the postseason and pretty good outing there for Freddie Peralta to set the table. Bullpen does the rest. One key error for the guardians kind of opened the door for the Rays early in this one, Jensen. Kind of small ball here, but three to one. It's the Rays with that win yesterday and now all square at one game apiece.

Jensen Lewis (2:49)

Yeah, pretty much kind of what we thought yesterday that not only would Tampa respond, but you know, could they limit a guardian offense that you felt was due for some regression here and listen, Freddie Peralta was spectacular, maybe effectively wild in a couple of spots where he was missing with some fastballs elevated in the zone, but that change up was really effective and it's been a pitch that Cleveland has struggled with mightily for the majority of the season, so a three to one win.

Now non, I believe it's non-divisional starts for Parker Messick the last 11 times out, Dave, all 11 have hit the under. So it was going back and forth. Remember we talked about that ping ponging yesterday, six and a half to seven back down to six and a half. It gets under swimmingly. And then if you played that alternate run line, which I kind of alluded to yesterday for Tampa Bay, that gets home at plus money. So all square at one and sort of a must win, Dave, because teams that go down 0-2, losing the first two at home had gone on to lose 26 of the last 30 series where that had occurred. So Tampa avoids some dubious history in that regard. And now, sir, we have three straight games here in Cleveland starting tomorrow.
