Duck Call Room
October 8, 2026
Uncle Si looks back on going to war at just 20 years old and admits it sounds even crazier now than it did then. The boys reflect on the young Americans who have stepped up in impossible moments, including the passengers who fought back on 9/11.

Justin Martin (0:06)
Let's roll.
John-David Owen (0:07)
What are we doing?
Justin Martin (0:08)
I don't know. What do we ever know?
Why start now? Why wouldn't we want to know what we're gonna talk about now? Welcome back to the Duck Call Room, ladies and gentlemen. Phil, I ain't seen you in a while. Good to have you back.
Phillip McMillan (0:18)
Thank you, buddy. Where you been?
SPEAKER_4 (0:19)
Oh, I've been running the roads. Actually, me and Si just got back from a big hunting trip in West Texas.
I will say that I can verify that Si is back with his shotgun.
Justin Martin (0:31)
New teeth, new eyes.
SPEAKER_4 (0:33)
The boy is back.
Justin Martin (0:34)
New shirt.
John-David Owen (0:36)
Same socks, same shoes, though.
Justin Martin (0:38)
Same hat.
SPEAKER_5 (0:40)
Same hat.
Si Robertson (0:42)
I got a different one at the house.
Justin Martin (0:43)
And the same cup. The new is what matters, the new eyes, the new teeth. I never knew that the teeth would make you shoot better too.
Si Robertson (0:50)
But look at us. You were shooting? I was on.
Justin Martin (0:54)
He was on, boy.
Phillip McMillan (0:55)
Ladies and gentlemen, for those of you listening.
Si Robertson (0:56)
He was on like a chicken bone.
John-David Owen (0:58)
He looked offended when I asked him.
Justin Martin (1:00)
Well, what he ain't going to tell you, he's not very talkative because I heard he had a poker game at his house last night. But you know what that means. You can't go to bed. He can't go to sleep. Yeah. You can't. Too many people at the house.
He's a little tired this morning, but he'll get there this afternoon, whatever you want to call it. What time did you go to bed, old man?
Si Robertson (1:22)
It was about 12
Justin Martin (1:23)
Oh, I wasn't too.
SPEAKER_4 (1:24)
That ain't bad.
Si Robertson (1:25)
We quit about 11.30.
Justin Martin (1:27)
Yeah. Well, that's just three hours, four hours after your normal bedtime, so that ain't too bad.
SPEAKER_4 (1:31)
Well, not only that, but he just got back from the doctor's office because I had to go, I went and picked him up because his eye, did you all see his eye the other day? It was so red.
Si Robertson (1:40)
Oh, yeah.
Justin Martin (1:40)
It looked like a black eye. So I asked him if he talked back to Christine again.
SPEAKER_4 (1:44)
Now, here's what happened. Home remedy.
Justin Martin (1:48)
Yep.
Si Robertson (1:49)
Playing doctor.
SPEAKER_4 (1:51)
What all did you put on your eye to fix it?
Si Robertson (1:52)
It was an N-Tag and then I put on my Curacrum on top of that.
SPEAKER_4 (1:59)
And then tried to pull it off.
Si Robertson (2:00)
Did you put any Vicks Vapor up on it?
It got it down to where it's just a little old bitty thing. It was about the size of an English pea.
Justin Martin (2:09)
There you go.
John-David Owen (2:09)
Why are those peas from England?
Justin Martin (2:11)
Because they're not any good.
John-David Owen (2:13)
I don't like them either.
Justin Martin (2:13)
That's my least favorite of the pea family.
Si Robertson (2:16)
They're not bad.
Justin Martin (2:18)
He's just my least favorite of the whole pea family. They are what they are. They're green mush.
John-David Owen (2:25)
That basically describes England.
Justin Martin (2:29)
They are pretty green because it's so cool and wet over there.
Si Robertson (2:32)
You don't even know you're eating them really when you're eating them.
Justin Martin (2:34)
Yeah, there it is.
John-David Owen (2:35)
Something else.
Justin Martin (2:35)
Yeah.
SPEAKER_4 (2:36)
It always goes back to some kind of food. Hold on.
John-David Owen (2:39)
What were you shooting?
Si Robertson (2:40)
Doves? Doves and all three types.
John-David Owen (2:44)
Yeah.
Si Robertson (2:45)
White wings, morning doves, and then the ring neck.
Hunter Robertson (2:51)
A collar dove.
John-David Owen (2:52)
The ring neck.
Hunter Robertson (2:53)
They don't count against your limit.
Si Robertson (2:55)
You kill hundreds of them.
SPEAKER_4 (2:56)
That's why he shot eight and a half boxes of shells in three days.
Si Robertson (3:01)
How's your shoulder?
Justin Martin (3:02)
There you go.
Si Robertson (3:03)
Oh, hey, that 28 guys, that barrel was hot.
Justin Martin (3:06)
I bet it was.
John-David Owen (3:07)
You shot eight boxes of shells?
Si Robertson (3:09)
Yeah.
Justin Martin (3:10)
That's a height there.
SPEAKER_4 (3:11)
Asian day, that's a one hunt.
Justin Martin (3:13)
Two hundred shells, yeah. Get you some of that, man. That's good. Why didn't you shoot all ten?
