Uncertainty, Fear, and Who You’re Becoming with Natty Lewis

Twenty Something with Olivia Burnett

October 15, 2026

This week, Olivia sits down with one of the most influential mentors in her life, Natalyn “Natty” Lewis. Natty first came into Olivia’s life as her high school soccer coach, but the lessons she taught her then have followed Olivia well into her twenties.

I was in a hospital bed. I could not move my arms or my legs. I had no use of my limbs. I could not get them to work, and something happened to me. It was like somebody flipped a light switch inside of my soul and my brain, and everything turned on, and I could move everything, and I was out of there. And I couldn't stop thinking about that. What was that light switch?

Why couldn't I access it before? If I could get your age group to listen to one thing, one thing, it would be this. Please, right now, stop focusing on outcomes and start focusing on becomes.

Olivia Burnett (0:38)

And it makes me realize honestly how much in my own life I'm focused on outcomes. And I think when you do focus on those outcomes, it feels very heavy, it feels very impossible. It feels like, how will I ever get there?

Wait, are we recording?

Hey guys, it's Liv, and welcome back to another episode of Twenty Something. I know I say this every episode that I'm really excited for this episode, but this one. It's truly a different level of excitement, because I have, on the episode today.

Oh my gosh, I can't get emotional in the first five sentences. It's about one of my favorite people truly in the entire world is in the studio with me today. And I want to tell you a little bit about Natalyn Lewis, as I lovingly refer to her Natty. She is a speaker, executive coach, entrepreneur, and business strategist who has spent more than 26 years working in marketing, sales, and leadership. She's partnered with over 200 companies, has started seven companies of her own. And she's spoken to more than a million people across 28 countries. I could go on and on about Natty, but to tell you a little bit about my Natty, she came into my life when I was playing high school soccer. She was my soccer coach. And I said this to her right before we started filming. But Natty truly lives on in infamously in my life and in the life of my family because of the lessons that she taught me at such a critical time in my life. And I'm not exaggerating at all when I say they are lessons and teachings that I refer back to in my 20s now every single day. And so much of what Natty does is teaching and helping other people. And so I was so excited to bring her on today to try to also share some of these lessons with you that have changed my life in more ways than I can count. So Natty, thank you for being here.

Natalyn Lewis (2:42)

Well, thanks, Libs. It is such a pleasure to be here and pleasure watching you.

And I'm so proud of you. Like I'm just sitting here watching this and just so proud of the woman you become. It's not surprising to me. And I'm proud of you. I just had to say it.

Olivia Burnett (3:00)

Well, thank you. That means a lot to me. So for the people who don't know and love you like I know and love you, will you give us just a little bit of background so people can kind of get to know you, your story, how you've gotten to a place of sharing and teaching the important truths that you do?

Natalyn Lewis (3:19)

Yeah, for sure. I grew up, I was the youngest of six kids. And so I think by nature had to be a little bit competitive.

Olivia Burnett (3:25)

Right.

Natalyn Lewis (3:26)

You had to eat what you kill when you're the youngest of six.

Olivia Burnett (3:28)

Right. Obviously.

Natalyn Lewis (3:30)

And so I loved sports. I was also the only, I had one brother. And by the time I came around, he told my parents not to bring me home from the hospital, you know, because he didn't want another girl in the house. We're done. That's right. So I think my parents, in an attempt to make him feel good about it, let me be his little best friend. Right. That turned out all right for me, because it gave me a lot of athletic background, which has blessed my life. And I went on, I got to play college soccer, and then soccer became a really joyful part of my life. But what I realized when I got to soccer was that I had never had great coaches until I had one.

And that coach started changing things for me. Right. And...

Olivia Burnett (4:11)

I can relate to that.

Natalyn Lewis (4:12)

And it was such a great thing for me, because all of a sudden I realized, wait a second, I have always wanted to be a positive life, a positive impact in the lives of others, and I could do that through coaching. And so that's what got me into soccer coaching. And when I graduated from college, I started having anxiety. I'd never experienced it before.
