Hunter is an ICU nurse, became a nurse in 2019, and then decided to move into the ICU during the 2020 COVID pandemic. He had always sought to practice healing, not just with the medical arts, but with his skills at conversation, with his ability to listen and really to connect with other human beings and found that a central part of being a really good nurse.
Yet he found during the pandemic that the cost of doing that was great. It was intense to make a connection with another person and then lose the person very soon thereafter.
It became easier for him to avoid connection altogether. Yet he found himself to be losing a part of himself by shutting off the desire to connect with other people. Indeed, it was a very important part of himself so much that it began to be a sort of wound to his own soul. So he chose to start having conversations with strangers as a way to practice his own inner healing work. And that has yielded a viral sensation, conversations with a stranger.
