TYLER KOLEK RECEIVES TERRIBLE NEW FOR THIS UPCOMING SEASON! According to Knicks insider Ian Begley, the Knicks will have limited opportunities for the younger players, like Tyler Kolek. But that doesn't make sense given Kolek and his level of commitment to improving his game.

And now, let's get started.
Tyler Kolek receives terrible news. I want the younger players on this Knicks team to receive more opportunities, especially Tyler Kolek, who's been putting in the work this off season, improving all aspects of his game. Unfortunately, after these latest updates, it looks like Kolek and the other younger Knick players will not be receiving that opportunity.
Shout out to Ian Begley for answering the following question on the latest edition of his mailbag. We all know the starting five and the two or three first guys off the bench. But is there someone you can see on this roster outside of those guys turning into a big-time contributor? And Begley had the following response.
Just looking at the roster, there is no direct path for minutes for any of the young guys. But last year's club relied on strong stretches from multiple non-rotation players. Mike Brown didn't hesitate to go with younger players if a rotation player got hurt or struggled. That said, it's hard to see any of the young non-rotation players making consistent significant contributions this season. The top of that rotation seems to be set already.
Now you might be asking yourself, why didn't I mention Mohamed Diawara? Well, the main reason I didn't is because he just got paid, he has a new contract, and this upcoming season, it looks like his role will be expanding. Shout out to Steph Bondi of the New York Post and Posting and Toasting for giving us this information. According to them, as further food for thought, Steph Bondi of the New York Post is already talking about the importance of Diawara getting stronger, so that he can potentially guard stretch fives.
It looks like Mohamed Diawara will be getting that huge opportunity this season, and this man deserves it. I know a lot of you guys want to talk about Summer League, last season when given opportunity late in the season, and he wasn't able to replicate what he was doing earlier last season. I understand all of that, but I'm telling you, this kid, he has what it takes. He has the right mindset, the right defensive instincts, and he's working on his offensive game. He's working on his defense too. He's working on all aspects of his game, because he understands this season, his role will be expanded. He'll be asked to do more than he did this past season. And I can't wait for that. Diawara deserves that opportunity. But, in my opinion, another young player on this team that really deserves this chance to shine with any opportunity given is Tyler Kolek. This man for the last few seasons has been working on his defense, which we saw last year, it's better. He's working on his playmaking. That's gotten better. His three-point shooting, that's gotten better. All aspects of his game has actually steadily improved. And this offseason, all he was doing was continuing to work on those aspects. He wants to get better because if any opportunity is given to this young man, he wants to take advantage of it. And I believe if he's even given a little bit of time consistently, he'll prove to Mike Brown and everyone else why he deserves consistent minutes. He shouldn't only play in the preseason. He should be playing during the regular season. He deserves that opportunity. He's been working for that opportunity. If Diawara can get an opportunity like he got last year, then Kolek, he deserves a similar role too. The only problem is, at his position, we have so many other players at this point that could actually take that opportunity from him. Like an Alvarado, like a Landry Shammet, like a Deuce McBride. He's just playing behind so many players. What could really help Tyler Kolek, if the Knicks end up doing this anyways, is trading Deuce McBride. If they trade McBride, it's highly likely that any opportunity that could have gone to McBride would go to Tyler Kolek. And if you give him that opportunity...
