All right, let's try it, shall we? They're always... Poor Cal. He doesn't realize how many times there are gremlins in these machines. But they're here and they're real. And on the weekends, they are especially unfriendly when they latch on to the boards over there. I don't know, he's probably got 150 buttons on his board. Over here, I only have four, and I really don't use one of them. So welcome to Friday, which is going to play out pretty much as a carbon copy of Thursday, and Wednesday, and then looking forward, probably of the coming weekend, and Monday, and probably Tuesday of next week. For those of you who are new to South Texas, like I've always said, we're in what, I call it a weather rut. And as warm and muggy and as miserable it may be, that's better than at least one atmospheric alternative this time of year. So be very, very specific if you start wishing for the weather to change. Because you, I'm sure your mother's told you this before, maybe your grandmother, be careful what you wish for. Because you just might get it. And for the record, so I'm not scaring anybody, nothing currently on the National Hurricane Center map, and I don't think there's anything expected for at least another week. Then after that, who knows? Thank goodness for the Saharan dust. If you don't like Saharan dust, if it bothers you that your car doesn't look perfectly shiny all the time, just because of this Saharan dust, make sure you understand that that dust is what keeps storms from forming out in the ocean. So I'll take the dust. Talked about that yesterday. Turning the corner, walking down Main Street, stocks lost a little momentum early on news of some open AI IPO delay.
How that works is above my pay grade though, so I'm not going to try to explain that. I did see, just a little while ago though, that at least I think two of the four, and maybe three of the four indicators I watch were back in the green. So all's well that ends well. We've got gold. Gold came up more than $30 an ounce and was at $4,105 per ounce around $11.30. And then finally to oil, all the increased movement of oil, millions of barrels of oil moving through that Strait of Hormuz again, helped pull oil down again. Currently trading at slightly less than $69. It was $68.90 or $68.91, something like that. We are very close to, and it's going to take some time.
We'll get the prices down, and I'm going to talk a little bit more about that later. From the, I found this very interesting this morning, from the new books desk comes one that's certain to send chills down Democrat spines. Former Democrat fundraiser Lindsey Lee, who switched parties actually when warning signs about former President Joe Biden went unheeded. She has written a book called Unburdened that she says will share exactly who knew what when about Biden's cognitive decline, all of whom pretended it wasn't real. According to Lee, there were plenty of people who saw what was happening with our former president, knew the decline was serious, but remained fully on his side in public, which was...
Well, you know how they are. According to Lee, powerful Democrats saw and realized what was happening, but they couldn't speak out because they were scared of being ostracized and losing whatever power they held at the time. Also in the book, accounts of discussions that reveal Kamala Harris was actually considered the weakest of all the potential replacements when they had to scramble and pull Joe back away from re-election. Scummy time in American history, really, and we're still smelling a lot of what they did wrong to this country.
Going back to The View, which I brought up yesterday a little bit, it's getting pretty hard looks from the FCC for allegedly not providing equal time when it comes to political gas and content. And co-host Sunny Hostin caught heat recently on social media for her very factually flawed recollection of the facts in the Carmelo Anthony case. And not to be out-lefted, the queen bee in that crazy hive, Whoopi Goldberg, actually said this week that, quote, no one wants voter ID laws, end quote. She actually said that out loud. When poll after poll show that every one of these polls that's been taken in the last, I don't know, six, eight months, maybe a year, 80% of Americans, not just Republicans, but 80% of all Americans want to make sure that votes cast in our national elections are cast only by Americans. And she doubled down on making a claim by saying that about half of America would be prevented from voting if the SAVE Act is signed. That's ludicrous. That's absolutely ridiculous.
