That was Liam Pickering, the manager of Brian Myers on contact with West Coast. Just wondering, if you know we're really still, why do a medical?

Yeah. Still a long time there. That medical continues to be in the rear-view mirror, and it's getting further and further away, but just in case of, which would make you think it's...

If he's going overseas, and he's had a partial tear of an ACL, if West Coast are to have any consideration to recruiting Brian Myers, they're going to want a medical. They're going to want to know what's going on there with that knee. So I understand that.

But it's just really weird for a guy who doesn't really have any intention of leaving to do a medical. That tells you that there's probably a fairly substantial offer from West Coast on the table, a more substantial offer than Brian Myers is ever likely to get from Geelong. And with Toby Green coming in to the team, Brian Myers is looking at things and going, well, if it's a choice between playing at West Coast for the next four or five years, and having an AFL career, or playing in the VFL sometimes and the AFL sometimes, because Toby Green's taken your spot in the team, and there's a lot more money, and there's greater tenure of contract that maybe it's worth having a look at. So, yeah, this is, it's, there may be absolutely nothing that happens as a result of all of this, but this has got to be a watch. The fact that the medical has been done, now, Andrew Mackey says this gets done all the time. We don't find out about it all the time.

Just trying to find the Sam Edmund quote from this morning where he was saying, he thinks that Grymeyser has been given the tap on the shoulder.

By Geelong. To, you know, review your options and see what's out there. But wouldn't there be a Melbourne team that would be interested in Gryme? Like, would he have to leave the state to go and find AFL football?

Probably not. But what happens if West Coast suffer is significantly better.

Right. Yeah.

Not just better, but significantly better. And the other thing that if you look at what gets this done for Geelong, I mean, Geelong are ruthless at the trade table.

Mark Duffield (3:06)

You know, one of the things that makes them a strong club and an annoying club is that they are ruthless at the trade table. You know, you look at what they did with Tim Kelly, they exacted a pint of blood for Jordan Clarke. You know, they got Bailey Smith on the cheap from the Western Bulldogs.

They're very good at levering, sort of, getting in a position where they have the leverage and not you, and they're either saying, no, we're not trading for that price if they're buying, or you're not getting him unless you pay this price if you're buying. So it's probably, they're not going to let on if they're tapping grindmines on the shoulder, because if they're tapping him on the shoulder, then that dilutes the price. They'd probably be looking at that pick that West Coast have just after 20, which would be their second-round pick, and one of the first picks in the second round. It'll probably drift into the early to mid-20s by the time we have Academy picks and Father-Son picks, etc., etc., as it always does. But they'd probably be looking at that one and going, well, that's a good pick for grindmines. I shudder to think that West Coast would even consider giving them their first pick, or even splitting their first pick to get their hands on grindmines. I sincerely hope they're not doing that. But yeah, if you're tapping a guy on the shoulder, then clearly you're not getting a pick in the 20s. But if you're arguing, well, this guy's a great connector inside of tacking 50, and it was just injury that kept him out of the team this year, and we'd love to keep him.
