I think one day we'll just sit here and play that whole song, I reckon.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:50)
She's telling Nick to play it twice.

**SPEAKER_1** (0:54)
It's literally the conversation I had before walking in.

**Mark Duffield** (0:56)
I just love that song.

**SPEAKER_1** (0:58)
Yeah.

**Mark Duffield** (0:58)
All right. It is time for your questions and answers. Lots of good texts coming through on the text line 487 736 736 Let's get to a couple of them.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:06)
Josh from Wilerton says, if there's any consolation from the Eagles game, it's that it ultimately isn't that important. Us fans will forgive losses like this if there is major development next year. Next year will be crunch time for the rebuilding Eagles and the Qualta. If they can fix up the goal kicking and poor disposal, will there be a standard chance of rising up the ladder?

**Mark Duffield** (1:23)
Yeah, so what they have to do, I mean, everyone talks about rising up the ladder and popping and such things.
What you have to do is improve relatives of the competition. Now, the reality is they have done that this year, but the other thing is they've left a bit on the table this year, and that's because of poor skill execution. And I suspect it's also because he's starting to filter out the ones that aren't going to get there. So there's going to be ones that still have work to do on their game. Now, clearly, Willem Dersma is getting tired towards the end of the year, so that's just the product of being a first year player. Harley Reid, as good as he's been, and he will win their best and fairest. You know, we still think there's work to do on his disposal and being more incisive and precise with the way he uses the ball, et cetera, et cetera. You know, even Ruben Jinby, who would have been leading the best and fairest before he was injured, he can work on his disposal a little bit and become more of a rebounder and not just a lockdown tall defender and a fierce competitor.
So there's not many complete players at West Coast at the moment. They're all people with things to work on in their games. And if he gets seven, eight, nine, ten players who all improve, they will improve relative to the competition. And then I think Mini will be okay. If he doesn't, then the question of another contract is going to be a big question in the next year.

**SPEAKER_3** (2:43)
I saw a figure thrown around. I think he had, was it six wins as a caretaker coach, and they've managed five at West Coast over his couple of years.

**Mark Duffield** (2:52)
I think he went six and five, something like that, at Richmond. So he did well. He had a good list, or the remnants of a good list to deal with at Richmond. So he can coach.

**SPEAKER_3** (3:01)
John in Janukot says, Hi Mark, a lot of the problems are the actual senior players that keep getting gifted games. Players like Duggan, Yeoh, Cole, even Baker have been deplorable at times this year. McQuelter keeps picking these guys over younger guys in the Waffle. Most West Coast supporters want McQuelter to go on as he looks like he has no backbone, says John.

**Mark Duffield** (3:16)
You've got to have, and I've said this earlier in the year, John, you've got to have a certain amount of experience in the team. And if you get caught short on that experience, you just lose. And sometimes you lose badly because there is not enough, there are not enough older heads and footy smarts out on the field. So I wouldn't knock him for having those blokes in the team. I think you could argue that both Liam Duggan and Liam Baker wouldn't be happy with their seasons, and they're your two co-captains. So that doesn't help you. Elliot Yeoh, I think, has been good at times, and at times he's looked sore and tired. I thought he was good after half-time yesterday. I thought he was one of the better ones. So I wouldn't knock him on yesterday's performance.
