Welcome to The Ringer Fantasy Football Show. My name is Danny Heifetz, and I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck. And today, we're going over training camp risers, training camp fallers and training camp injuries, because at the beginning, it was just the 49ers getting hurt, but now the other 31 teams are also getting hurt.

**Danny Kelly** (0:32)
It is an absolute bloodbath out there, guys.

**Craig Horlbeck** (0:35)
Just bath of blood. Get me to September, please.

**Danny Kelly** (0:38)
Yeah.

**Danny Heifetz** (0:39)
Yeah. Greg, your beloved Luther Burden. All your favorite players get hurt every year. We're going to get into Craig's anguish. And again, risers, fallers, all the quarterback battles that aren't really quarterback battles. But first, we're going to take a quick break.
This episode is presented by Verizon. Let me tell you all about Verizon's new Simplicity Plan. You get one plan, one price, just $30 a line per month even for a single line. Craig, your favorite player every year gets hurt in August, and I don't know why, but Luther Burden. Hurt his groin. And I feel like your groin is also injured, Craig.

**Craig Horlbeck** (1:46)
I have sympathy pain with Luther Burden.
Yeah, this is legitimately devastating. Look, people thought it could have been a lot worse. People were fearing ligaments torn out for half the year, out for the whole season. It's a groin strain. It appears as though he's going to miss basically the rest of training camp, and he'll be healthy in about a month, which is right around when the season starts. It's a mess. The Luther Burden rocket ship was almost at the moon, and I was convinced this guy was the next to honor St. Brown, or better, to be honest. And look, I think this docks him a little bit. This obviously stinks. Like him not being able to get an entire month of training camp with the team is a problem.
You know, the online, the Twitter doctors are saying fear of re-injury based on this strain, not terrible. He was also walking around today, today, Monday at practice without a limp. The people were saying that was a great sign this early on. So I'm holding out hope. But yeah, this is not great.

**Danny Kelly** (2:46)
I don't like this at all just because the groin injury feels like one that you're just so liable to re-injure as you go through the year, especially late in the year when it's colder and you're trying to cut and change direction and do types of things that receivers really need to do. Like he's walking around fine. That's great. But when he's cutting on like a soft grass and it really like, I don't know, that just really worries me. You don't love to see injuries like this in preseason, especially when he was just going so well.

**Craig Horlbeck** (3:16)
It's been a really messy camp. Everyone's getting banged up. This is a good time to talk about when you should do your draft, I should say briefly before we get to the rest of the injuries.

**Danny Kelly** (3:24)
As late as possible.

**Craig Horlbeck** (3:26)
Yes, literally. Like the week of the season, I would do your draft like September 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th. That range is, it feels weird to do it right before the season you get antsy. I used to do drafts in like mid August back in the day in high school and stuff like that. And I remember we did a draft and a guy in my league took Jamal Charles and the next day Jamal Charles tours AZL. And it's like you just don't want, you don't want that. So you need to be drafting the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday before the season starts so you don't have to deal with shit like this.

**Danny Heifetz** (3:55)
So. I guess you're taking it well.
It could be worse.

**Craig Horlbeck** (4:02)
It could be worse.

**Danny Heifetz** (4:03)
He might play in week one. You're acting like Luther Burden is dead. He might play in week one. He might practice Wednesday before the season. I think so. So how much are we moving him down then? If you've you seem you seem quite upset.

**Craig Horlbeck** (4:15)
Well, I have him ridiculously high, so I'll probably have to lower him to a level closer to the two of you.
