Jesse (0:35)
Welcome to another episode of Hobby Nonsense. I am your boy, Sports Boy.
Ray Solorio (0:41)
I'm your boy, Solor Ray.
Jesse (0:43)
We welcome you to the show. If you're a first-time listener, thank you so much for giving us a try. You're welcome in. And we should let you know right off the bat, there's a lot in these episodes. There's a lot crammed in.
Even the show notes, which we try and give a description of everything that we talk about, nine times out of ten does not include at least full topics of things that we talk about in the show.
Ray Solorio (1:06)
Agreed.
Jesse (1:07)
Today is one of these shows where there's so many different things to discuss and we do not have a guest specifically.
Ray Solorio (1:13)
Just going to rapid fire everything.
Jesse (1:15)
I mean, in the same sense of anytime we do any rapid fire, it's not rapid at all, but it'll be rapid in the sense that we'll cover it and then we'll go on to another thing. I don't know if that's a speed, but that's just a fact.
Ray Solorio (1:28)
I'm getting like, what's that SNL skit where they're like, hi, everybody? What's that?
Jesse (1:33)
Like where they're doing like an MPR type of thing?
Sam (1:35)
Yeah. What's that skit?
Ray Solorio (1:38)
Was it Shweaty Balls?
Jesse (1:39)
Well, they incorporated that into an episode. But yes, it's an old MPR. They don't do those anymore.
Ray Solorio (1:46)
Do you like the current SNL? Do you watch it or do you just find the skits on your feet?
Jesse (1:52)
So it's a good question. Actually, I appreciate this question.
Ray Solorio (1:56)
Because you're in SNL. I'm sure everyone that's listening, however, whatever age you were in high school during that SNL time, that's the best SNL time.
Jesse (2:05)
Yes. Well, the best SNL time for you would be?
Ray Solorio (2:10)
Mine? I mean, we're talking about Will Ferrell.
Jesse (2:14)
Will Ferrell, yes. Chris Catan.
Ray Solorio (2:16)
Sure. Jimmy Fallon was there. Tim Meadows, which he was there for multiple decades.
Jesse (2:23)
Tim Meadows, the original Kenan Thompson.
Sam (2:27)
He was on there forever.
Ray Solorio (2:28)
Some would say the generation before, which would be David Spade.
Jesse (2:34)
Yeah.
Sam (2:35)
Farley was in there. Farley, Adam Sandler.
Jesse (2:37)
Yeah.
Hartman was in there. Yeah. There was a lot of really good talent across it. And you know what? I don't know if many, I'm sure a lot of our listeners know there's a lot. There are some SNL cards from the 90s that are just amazing. In fact, Funkle as a little gift to one of our guys, one of the producers on the SCN show, he had sent him a SNL like Dabers. Remember it was Farley and actually, I can't remember who all the other guys who were doing that skit were darn it. But it was like when they were sitting around a bar and he's like, it was multiple different. Oh yeah. But he sent him one of those cards. I thought it was really cool. I've got, I have one.
It's actually, I don't know. I've specifically not mentioned what this SNL card is because I think it's like just, you couldn't get away with this skit today. Probably it's Chris Farley, Adam Sandler around a pool and they're like drinking beers. And all of a sudden a bunch of guys just come out of nowhere. It's, I'm not going to go into more detail.
Ray Solorio (3:42)
I don't remember that.
Jesse (3:43)
Yeah, I'll tell you off air.
Ray Solorio (3:44)
Okay.
Jesse (3:45)
But all that being said, to answer your question, I did watch this SNL.
Ray Solorio (3:50)
Is it the Dodge Stratus?
Jesse (3:51)
No, that's a whole other Will Ferrell one at dinner.
I watched SNL this weekend. I don't know if you saw the news update, which is probably my favorite part of those shows these days.
