Hello, I'm John Kennedy and joining me for this episode of Tape Notes is Lizzy McAlpine with producers Mason Stoops, Taylor Mackall and engineer Omar Akrouche. This is the third time that we've got to dig into Lizzy's music and it's been really amazing to see that world around her grow and develop. There's a real sense of community in the way Lizzy makes music with Mason and Taylor, not only producing the records with her, but being part of her live band as well. Omar has recently joined them in London to perform too. It's such an expanding world and they clearly are a family really. They have such a good time together and it was really great to be able to tap into that once more and witness that chemistry in person. There are so many gems that they reveal about this new album, Angel. The full video episode is available on the Tape Notes Patreon page, where you can also see gear lists from each episode, behind the scenes content. There's also the chance to win monthly gear and plug-in prizes. So to join us there, head over to patreon.com/tapenotes.

Lizzy McAlpine is a singer, songwriter and producer from Pennsylvania. Having written and recorded music throughout her teenage years and releasing tracks online, after a year of studying at Berklee College of Music, she subsequently left to pursue music full time, releasing her debut album in 2020 Give Me a Minute, produced by Philip Etherington, Erin Ebbage and Dylan Withereau. Lizzy has since released two more critically acclaimed albums, Five Seconds Flat, featuring the platinum selling viral hit, Seelings and Older, her first collaboration with producers, Mason Stoops and Taylor Mackall. Lizzy's fourth album, Angel, working once again with Mason and Taylor, was released in September 2026

Today, I'm at Platoon Studios and I'm joined by Lizzy, along with producers, Mason, Taylor, and engineer, Omar Akrouche. And what better way to start our conversation than by hearing something from Angel. This is Soldier of the Road.
