Welcome to Two Sixteen, A Link to the Past Randomizer Podcast. I am your host, Fear Agent. Hope everyone enjoyed the last episode, the big Zelda draft. Shout outs to MoogleCharm, who looks to be our winner. Moogle had a strong team with the Link to the Past Link, the blue wizzrobes as his enemies, the master sword as his item, Arbiter Grounds as his dungeon, the Gerudo Valley song might have helped put him over, and then he had Pona as a wild card, so. Oh, and Tears of the Kingdom as a game. Strong draft. That was a lot of fun. I really hope you enjoyed that. Lots to get to, so let's just jump into it. League Season 8 is over. Let's start with the Open. In the Open, the finals were Third Try Blind and the American Engineered Pizza Project.
Third Try Blind is TJjoll, Sean Rhapsody and Jettoman. And what do you know it? TJjoll is our guest for today's episode. We recorded this the day before Game Three.
So we didn't know the results when we chatted, but I can give you the results here. The American Engineered Pizza Project, which is Flying Platypus Dimitri, Jack and Darpex, took Game Three. They are your Open League Champions. So huge congrats to them. Pretty new team. And they will be joining Third Tribeline, as well as Blue Trinex Group and NoFo Filet in the Invitational next season. If those four teams join, they all four earned their invitations to the Invitational.
But huge shoutouts to both the finalists. And really awesome, really fun Open League season. Don't think I get a chance to talk about it, but my team, the Good The Beer and the Agent, was able to make the finals this year. We beat what the specs, 2 to 1, which was awesome, because it's Gamma 2
And any chance you get to beat Gamma, feels pretty, pretty good. But Jammo and I beat Scully and Gamma 2, Game 1, and then there was a close Game 2, which was the Spoiler Pilot. Jammo actually had the lead going into Ganon's Tower, but had a few mistakes, and Gamma was able to take over. And then Jammo ended up dying on Ganon when he dropped in. So that was unfortunate. But we did play Game 3 That was myself and Homemade Beer against Scully and Specs. And that was AD, Co-op AD, and we won that game. That was a really close one as well. And so then we went against Used Bo, which is the returning champions. That's Gem, Structural Mike, and Telethar. And they were just too strong. They beat us 2-0. Game one was Spoiler Pilot. That was Gem and Telethar.
One of the best spoiler teams in all of Rondo. Just super hard to beat.
Gemmo did well, but kind of had a big blunder when he forgot to pick up his hammer, I want to say at the dam or something. And that just sort of kind of spiraled out after that. And then Gemmo and I played Structural Mike and Telethar in a co-op cross-keys and it didn't go our way. I can't remember what happened in that race, but I do remember now. It was a really low percentage. We actually played really well, but one teammate on both teams had like six hearts and like no safeties, and the other one had all of the hearts. And it would have been fine if Gemmo had been the one with the low, no hearts situation, because he's a spoiler player and he's used to running a low percentage.
I'm not. Give me my hearts, give me my safeties.
I think I did okay, but I ended up dying on viddy, and that cost us a bunch of time. And I got super tilted in that race. I felt, because I was racing Telethon and Structural Mike, I felt like all of my mistakes had been amplified. When I went back and watched it, it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be. So if I played a little bit better mentally, I think we might have had a better chance. But that didn't happen. I got super tilted and kind of ended up throwing. So not the way I wanted to go out, but we made the finals and I'm really happy with that. Awesome league season, had a lot of fun. Making the finals was huge.
The last time I made the finals was season two.
So it's been a while since we've done that well. And huge shout outs to my teammates Jammo and homemade beer.
Beer did a lot of carrying, especially late in the season when we had to play a lot of Entomizer and he killed it. He was awesome. He carried us through those Entomizer races.
