What's good, friends? Welcome to Fantasy Focus Football alongside Michael Lester Clay Jr. and Field Minister Yates. My name is Daniel David Dopp. Very excited to be here with you guys. How are you doing, Field?
Field Yates (0:23)
You know, I'm feeling a little bit more aerodynamic myself these days, Daniel. Yeah. You know, I shaved this morning.
Daniel Dopp (0:28)
I can see that. Yeah, sort of.
Field Yates (0:31)
Did you?
Daniel Dopp (0:31)
Like an electric shaver?
Field Yates (0:32)
I've heard that, you know, the less hair you have on your body, the more aerodynamic you are.
SPEAKER_5 (0:36)
Is that what you hear?
Daniel Dopp (0:38)
That's what you hear. We'll talk about that a little bit later on in the show. We have a lot of stuff to get to in today's show. Hello, Michael.
Mike Clay (0:45)
Oh, hi.
Daniel Dopp (0:45)
We have a lot of stuff to get to in today's show.
Mike Clay (0:47)
I'm trying to delete the box for from Monday Night Football.
SPEAKER_6 (0:49)
I know. I'm sorry.
Mike Clay (0:51)
Can you just delete it and then it goes away and you don't have to think about it?
Daniel Dopp (0:53)
Wild. It was a wicked football game, unfortunately. Make it quick because I don't want to talk about it. We're going to obviously dive in to the Monday Night Football recap. We also have our starts of the week we had to talk about, our long shots to check in on, we got knockout leagues we're going to talk about, waiver wire targets in week four, and a very fun segment at the end of the show called Fish or Cut Bait. Guys, we're deciding, are we going to keep rolling with, are we going to cut them loose to our bench?
Mike Clay (1:15)
You start fishing and suddenly we're doing fishing segments.
Daniel Dopp (1:18)
I didn't even bring it up.
SPEAKER_5 (1:19)
This was a fieldside idea.
Field Yates (1:20)
But I was motivated. I knew that if I pitched this segment, you would say absolutely I'm doing it.
Daniel Dopp (1:24)
You knew that I would captain it. I'd be the captain of your idea. I'm the captain now. Okay. All right. Speaking of being a new captain, let's talk about some news that we got yesterday, guys. Jameis Winston is still going to be the starting quarterback of the New York football giants for now. But JJ McCarthy moving over cost a fifth round draft pick from the Vikings.
Curious how you guys feel, if any change at all, with this move and what it could mean for the Giants pass catchers moving forward.
Field Yates (1:49)
So this is the down the line thing, as you just said.
SPEAKER_6 (1:51)
Obviously not right now.
Field Yates (1:52)
Jameis is going to start.
This is deep cut stuff. But when you need deep cut stuff, who do you turn to? Kyle Soppe.
SPEAKER_6 (2:00)
Kyle Soppe.
Field Yates (2:00)
Yes. He did pass along to me, did Kyle.
Daniel Dopp (2:04)
Okay.
Field Yates (2:04)
That's-
Daniel Dopp (2:05)
Shout out there, Kyle.
Field Yates (2:06)
Last season, when targeting tight ends, JJ McCarthy had the sixth best passer rating in the entire NFL.
Daniel Dopp (2:15)
All right.
Field Yates (2:15)
And TJ Hockenton wasn't a great factor last year.
When looking at the quarterback rating for players, when throwing to running backs and wide receivers, JJ McCarthy ranked 33rd, which I believe was worst. So if you're looking for an Isaiah Likely case, I just made it for you.
Daniel Dopp (2:33)
There you go.
Mike Clay (2:33)
So if you're watching what was on the screen, that was a really good tweet. It was, who's the quarterback of the Giants and a picture of Isaiah Likely. It's Likely9, which is Jersey. Likely9.
Field Yates (2:45)
I wonder what uniform JJ wears. This will be the most probably like impactful uniform number change in quite some time.
Mike Clay (2:52)
Yeah.
Field Yates (2:53)
It's like LeBron when he decided to go from 23 to 6
Mike Clay (2:55)
Yeah. Yeah. It's a huge one for sure.
Daniel Dopp (2:58)
I'm not sure about that. What?
Mike Clay (3:00)
I mean, if you ask, if you ask Vikings fans before yesterday, it's not a stretch at all. But now they're just like, OK, good. We don't have to defend this guy anymore. Look, his number so far, I was looking yesterday, just 10 games with the Vikings, 11 touchdowns, 12 picks. The efficiency numbers for such a young quarterback are poor for an NFL starter, but like not awful. I mean, not, you know, 6.7 yards per attempt, 58% completion percentage. He also ran for 181 yards and four touchdowns in those games.
