Oh, what a finish.
Mike (0:23)
And Tien brings Team World level.
Carlos Alcaraz (0:27)
Can you believe it?
SPEAKER_5 (0:28)
From the depths of despair, Dimonov finds a way.
Jon Wertheim (0:32)
Team World are in the lead.

Hasn't this Laver Cup come alive today? Victory secured in one of the most incredible matches that you will see in some of the most dramatic scenes at the back end of a labor breaker we've ever had here.
Andy Roddick (0:51)
Team Europe are victorious and they go into day three in the lead.
Good morning, how are we doing? Good, we are Served. My name is Andy. This is Jon Wertheim, producer Mike. Morning, everybody. Over to my right. Who caught We got the? tennis yesterday.
I mean, what else did you want? Spoiled, we're all spoiled for choice this morning, Mike. Should we quickly get to a little bit of what happened yesterday?
Mike (1:38)
Tim Henman joining us here shortly. He's got practice to get to, so let's get a quick little highlight pack in before we extend it.
Andy Roddick (1:44)
All right, as we see Learner Tien taking on Flavio Caboli. Actually, I was with Jim Currie yesterday and he also thought that Learner was the favorite in this match. You see match point.
SPEAKER_7 (1:55)
Look at Coach Andre.
Andy Roddick (1:58)
He looks stunned, but fantastic win for Learner Tien. First time out in a Laver Cup against Caboli, who's been fantastic, but we've said this entire week, low and slow, tough to get out of Tien's strike zone. Terry Henri doing the coin toss here for Zverev. Remember, Demon beat Zverev at this tournament last year. You see him extending the court, taking the invite, getting in right here, and you think, okay, well, Zverev is there, he misses it.
Jon Wertheim (2:23)
On a hard court, too.
Andy Roddick (2:25)
The drama was in full flight. Demon beats Zverev at the Laver Cup for the second year in a row. Everyone had that on their bingo card, correct? You liars.
And then, Carlos Alcaraz, you want a drama? Well, this one was absolutely full of it. The artistry. Watch this, I'm gonna hit an overhead, no wait, I'm gonna let it go, and then I'm gonna hit a lob over your head. There's exactly one person on earth who could pull that off.
Jon Wertheim (2:53)
Who would try to pull that off.
Andy Roddick (2:54)
And the person's not sitting to my right. Definitely not. No, but Carlos Alcaraz gets through. Taylor had a couple of match points.
Trying to repeat history from beating Carlos last year at the Laver Cup. But JW, a couple of your takeaways from yesterday.
Jon Wertheim (3:10)
A great day of tennis.
You also saw, you think that, well, you know, this is an event, it's late in September. I saw a player dive and bloody his hand and knee, and then I also saw a player, can I say this? I saw a player choke. Zverev was serving for the match double-faulted twice. That gives you some idea of the pressure that these players put on themselves. This means a lot to those guys.
Andy Roddick (3:34)
Yeah, in the...
Jon Wertheim (3:36)
Excuse me.
Andy Roddick (3:38)
I'm glad you mentioned that with Zverev, thank you.
Because the whole thing is like, okay, this is, this event, it was a new concept. You know, are these guys going to care? Yeah, you care enough to want to win to where it affects your entire nervous system, even though you've already won two slams this year, Mike.
Mike (3:58)
Well, I mean, the fact is, you guys just completely forgot the fourth match of yesterday, the doubles match.
Jon Wertheim (4:02)
Oh, got some doubles too. We'll highlight a little highlight of that.
Andy Roddick (4:08)
Yeah, and Caspar Rudd, watch, when he has time on that forehand, it's an absolute nightmare. That ball is tumbling towards you.
Bublik tries his best, but it's very banging to miss that one. I'll tell you that. But Caspar Rudd, especially at Laver Cup on this surface, they've been plugging him into a ton of the doubles matches to great effect. He sits in that ad quarter and just finds as many forehands as possible. The difference with Caspar when he has time is the spin that he can create off that forehand side. So when you're volleying, it's not like if I hit a ball at someone and it comes through pretty clean, without that spin, it's easy to reflex volley. When the ball is diving in the last inch or two before it gets to your racket and it has those amount of RPMs, you cannot get a clean volley on it. And then if you pair that with this court where you're not getting any love off the court as far as skidding, you really have to hit a quality volley in order for Caspar not to get that forehand again. So they've really kind of found a secret weapon with Caspar sticking him in that ad court side, and essentially the last couple of years has been maybe their best doubles player.
