"There's Only One Jack Sparrow" – Bob Chapek On Johnny Depp And Pirates 6

Patrick Bet-David (0:00)

Selfish question, this has got nothing to do with the interview. Do you think Johnny Depp's going to come back to do Pirates of the Caribbean?

Bob Chapek (0:07)

I don't know, I've been too far removed after three and a half years out.

Patrick Bet-David (0:10)

Remember when he said even if they gave me 300 million, I won't come?

Bob Chapek (0:13)

Yeah, I remember that. I can't say. I don't have any knowledge of...

SPEAKER_3 (0:18)

Would you want to see it?

Bob Chapek (0:21)

Patrick Bet-David (0:22)

No comment? Interesting.

Bob Chapek (0:25)

I'm staying away from that one.

Patrick Bet-David (0:26)

With Johnny Depp?

Bob Chapek (0:27)

Well, on just the subject matter. Who I want to see. Oh, I see. I got it. Yeah, I don't want to be quoted there.

Patrick Bet-David (0:37)

Interesting.

SPEAKER_3 (0:38)

Really? Out of everything, that's a no comment?

Bob Chapek (0:42)

I have a lot of no comments.

Patrick Bet-David (0:43)

Are you serious?

SPEAKER_4 (0:44)

You've been pretty good today. You've not been no comment. You've been...

Bob Chapek (0:47)

You know, when I've read the book... Johnny Depp was fantastic. I mean, his character is maybe one of my favorite and most beloved characters of all time. There's, I mean, you know, you know, even Alice in Wonderland. I mean, the guy is absolutely amazing.

It depends on the script. You know, creative studios always have a situation where they bring somebody back 10, 15, 20 years later. And, you know, Harrison Ford, how do you integrate him? It's not as simple. That's why I didn't want to get into it. It's not as simple as, would you like to see him come back? In what role?

What's the story? It's all part of the integration. And that's why there's only one, but he's spectacular. Jack Sparrow. There's only one Jack Sparrow. There's only one Jack Sparrow.
