Hello, and welcome to The Yarniacs Podcast. This is episode number 384, which we are recording on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026 I'm Gayle.

Sharlene (0:20)

And I'm Charlene.

Gayle (0:21)

And we're in a new location. We're at another of our library branches, and it's this lovely giant sunny room. It's just delightful.

Sharlene (0:29)

Yeah, this is a nice spot.

Gayle (0:31)

Yeah, we're hoping that there aren't any weird fans that kick in unexpectedly, because that does happen from time to time.

All right, and before we start our normal segments, I wanted to thank everybody who added a comment for our episode 380, when I talked about starting to journal. There were several of you who gave links to different journals that you like, and specifically Anya Granadin on Ravelry referred me to the Book of Alchemy, which is a very strange title for a book that provides 100 prompts for journaling. I'm working my way through that book and it's really fun. I'm finding that I'm falling in love with journaling, which makes me really, really happy and I don't know why Book of Alchemy would be the title. It doesn't seem like it's even remotely associated with journaling, does it?

Sharlene (1:22)

No.

Gayle (1:22)

But if you're interested in journaling, check that out. And what are you wearing, Charlene?

Sharlene (1:28)

Okay. I previously mentioned this sweater as one of my past Color of Fall projects and so of course that reminded me to take it out and wear it this September. So I have been wearing my Look Squirrel by Casapinka.

This one I knit in the summer of 2020 Wore it this week. Perfect fall sweater because it's a very light layer. It's what I affectionately call a three button sweater because the front closure doesn't really close all the way. It just has the little buttons at the top. So you close the top and just wear it as a light layer.

Gayle (2:15)

And it looks adorable on you.

Sharlene (2:16)

Oh, thank you.

Gayle (2:17)

We saw her wearing it yesterday.

Sharlene (2:19)

Yeah, it's one of my favorites, but for some reason I do forget to wear it. So Look Squirrel by Casapinka.

Gayle (2:27)

So with the year of second and repetitive knits, do you think you've mentioned maybe wanting to knit that one again?

Sharlene (2:34)

I have always wanted to knit that one again. So we'll see.

Gayle (2:38)

Could happen.

Sharlene (2:39)

It could happen. What are you wearing?

Gayle (2:42)

Well, yesterday I was wearing my Vestoever number two, and this is a pattern by Elsebeth Judith. And like I said, it's number two. The first one that I knit was a dark gray, and the second one was pink. And that's what I wore yesterday. And it was just chilly enough yesterday in the morning. And when I got home, it was chilly enough in my house to keep it on. And it is a vest, thus vest over.

And this one has a split hem. And I knit both of them long enough to be kind of tunic-y, you know, cover your butt kind of lengths. And I really, really like the pattern. The one that I was wearing yesterday is knit in Derurum Natura Albertine, which is a fingering weight, 90% merino, 10% silk. It's a lovely base. So it was just a lovely layer to wear. And I think I'm actually moving more and more into wearing knit vests. Which makes me very happy. So Vestover by Elsebeth Judith.

What have you been stocking?

Sharlene (3:46)

So the first thing is called the Ease-In T by a designer named Yamagara. Now, this is a designer from Singapore. And I knit one of her designs a while ago back in 2021 called Leaf Bird. Now, my Leaf Bird ended up being sacrificed to the Moth Gods.

And I had, yes, very sad. And I have always thought it's another one that I would like to make again because it is a very cool pattern.

But this is not about Leaf Bird. This is about the Ease-In T, which is a Raglan T knit top down. And it has braids along the Raglan shaping in the front and the back. The sample is knit in short sleeves as a layering piece for transitional weather. And the sample is worn both with a long-sleeved T and a long-sleeved collared blouse on the pattern page. And it looks really cool layered with both those styles.

Gayle (4:58)

It's really cute.

Sharlene (4:59)

Yeah, I really like it. It's knit at four stitches to the inch. And it is shown in a yarn that is classified as super bulky, which is odd because four stitches to the inch is generally an iron weight, maybe a heavier worsted yarn.
