Hello, welcome back to The Lincoln WildCAST with positive vibes.
Hallie (0:34)
And knee slappers. Starting with positive vibes.
Jackson (0:37)
If you're having a bad day, remember to look on the bright side.
Autumn (0:39)
What do you mean?
Jackson (0:40)
There's always someone to talk to, like friends or Mr. Hawk. It'll make you feel better.
Hallie (0:44)
Oh, okay. Onto the knee slappers.
Jackson (0:47)
How do dad's knees know it's going to rain?
Hallie (0:49)
How?
Jackson (0:51)
It's a knee-duralogist. Now we're going to hand the microphone over to our special guest segment with Delegate Clay Riley.
Clay Riley (1:00)
Get out!
Hallie (1:05)
Hi.
Claire (1:05)
Welcome to the special guest interview with Claire.
Hallie (1:08)
And Halle. We are here with Delegate Clay Riley. Thank you for joining us, Delegate Riley.
Okay. First question. What's your duties as a delegate and what's the most enjoyable part of job?
Clay Riley (1:18)
Well, that's a really good question. So my duties as a delegate is to represent our area at the state level. So issues that are important to our community.
I'm there to advocate on our community's behalf so that when state laws are passed, they benefit us rather than have a negative impact. So on a daily basis, I talk to constituents, I write laws, I vote on bills. I talk to the executive branch like the governor and other agencies. So that's normally about what I do. I respond to a lot of e-mails and talk to a lot of folks.
Claire (1:53)
We'll be back. Let's kick it over to Mooring at LMS. Hey guys, today in Mooring at LMS, we're interviewing Mr. Buckhannon, the eighth grade social studies teacher and football coach. Today, we have three questions.
Hallie (2:08)
What is your favorite assignment that your students do for you every year?
Mr. Buckhannon (2:12)
I really like the famous West Virginians project that we do at the end because it gives you a chance to kind of maybe connect with somebody from our state that's kind of made it in. Everybody wants to be famous. I mean, that's kind of what everybody thrives to be. And maybe you can connect with that person and see what they went through to be successful. So I like that project a lot.
Claire (2:34)
What's your favorite natural wonder in West Virginia?
Mr. Buckhannon (2:37)
Oh, it's kind of hard to narrow it down to one. I like Blackwater Falls just because it's really accessible and you can go there for the day, and you don't have to play in this big elaborate trip. But I do like Cawdee's Castle. I like the history of Cawdee's Castle, and it's hard to narrow it down to one. But if I had to say, probably Cawdee's Castle, just because of the Native American's background and stuff with it.
Hallie (2:59)
What made you want to be a teacher?
Mr. Buckhannon (3:01)
Just having summers off and getting to play golf. No, I'm just kidding.
Just to be able to impact people's lives outside of my own and just get to see them grow. And it's really nice to be in the middle school because you get to see them develop as an 8th grader and turn into a young adult. And then when they get to the high school, you see how their success and maybe have a little piece of helping them turn into the person that they turn in to be. And it's just neat to see students evolve through the years.
Claire (3:31)
Now passing the mic to Wildcat Showdown. See you guys next week. Peace.
Ember (3:43)
Welcome to the WildCast Showdown. I'm Lilliana.
Autumn (3:46)
I'm Autumn. And I'm Aubrey.
Ember (3:47)
And today we are bringing two very special guests for a Wildcat Sing-Off.
Autumn (3:52)
Let's give a warm welcome to Mrs. Hines and Mrs. Idleman. Thanks for coming in.
Jackson (3:57)
Happy to be here.
Autumn (3:59)
Today these ladies, these lovely ladies, are going to do a little karaoke for us. Let's see who's the best singer. Are you ready? Let's start with Mrs. Hines singing Country Roads. Take the stage.
That was beautiful. Now, it's Mrs. Ottoman's turn with Living on a Prayer. Blow us all away.
