Thanks for tuning in to our first podcast of October.

We've got a wild show lined up for you, and we are joined by special guest, Thrasher engineer, Craig Baker. Thanks for joining us. Now let's jump right in with Positive Vibes & Knee-Slappers.

Mr. Kimble (0:26)

Hello, welcome back to The Lincoln WildCAST with Positive Vibes.

Autumn (0:28)

And Knee-Slappers, starting with Positive Vibes.

Mr. Kimble (0:30)

Hey Dylan.

Mr. Ellis (0:31)

What?

Mr. Kimble (0:32)

I'm trying to take the engine out of a riding lawnmower.

Autumn (0:33)

I can't, I might give up.

Mr. Ellis (0:35)

Don't give up. Why not, man? Nothing's impossible.

Lily (0:37)

You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

Autumn (0:39)

Okay, thanks, man.

Mr. Kimble (0:39)

Onto the Knee-Slappers. What do you call a vegan?

Autumn (0:44)

What?

Mr. Kimble (0:44)

A huge mistake.

Lily (0:49)

Now going to hand the microphone over to our special guest segment with Craig Baker.

Craig Baker (0:53)

Get out!

Autumn (0:58)

Welcome to the special guest interview with my uncle, Craig Baker.

Lily (1:01)

He's an architect at Thrasher and designs buildings.

Autumn (1:05)

Thanks for coming.

Lily (1:06)

What made you want to become an architect and how can someone become one?

Craig Baker (1:11)

So when I was growing up, my father was always in construction and I saw how he worked.

And he made me promise that I go to college and get a degree to do something less physical. And I always had a desire to be engaged building things, but I never really had the skills to be able to do things like my dad did. So he suggested one time that maybe I should be into architecture. And that became a perfect combination for me.

I always loved to draw growing up. And I was always particular to geometric shapes and things of that nature.

And then really exposed into the drafting and design side of things at Heist. Through my mechanical drafting class, I knew I was hooked and I wanted to become.

Autumn (2:07)

We'll kick it over to Roaring in LMS with our beloved band teacher, Mr. Kimble.

Lily (2:14)

Stay tuned for question two.

Autumn (2:19)

Welcome to Roaring in LMS. I'm Aubrey. And I'm Lily.

Lily (2:22)

And today we have Mr. Kimble in with us. Hey! Thank you for coming in, Mr. Kimble. Now we have some very interesting questions for you.

Mr. Kimble (2:31)

Can't wait.

Autumn (2:32)

What was your job before becoming a band director?

Mr. Kimble (2:34)

So before I was a middle school band director, I was a high school band director at Braxton County High School, which is down in the center of the state. And then before that, when I was in college, I used to be an extension work study. So I worked at my local extension office, and they did like 4-H camps and stuff.

Autumn (2:49)

Okay. What instrument do you hate the most?

Mr. Kimble (2:52)

So, like, fair question. I don't really hate any of them, but the flute definitely frustrates me the most because I stink at it. I'm the worst at the flute.

Lily (3:01)

Why did you become a band teacher?

Mr. Kimble (3:03)

So I had a lot of great teachers in my life, including Mrs. Dabbs. She was my band director, which is really weird because I'm a little brother.

Mr. Ellis (3:10)

Yeah, it's awful.

Mr. Kimble (3:11)

But she was a lot of great influences as band directors, and then band just meant a lot to me growing up. I wouldn't be who I am without band, so I just wanted to share that with other people.

Lily (3:21)

Now, the most important question of our day is, how do we join the Mr. Kimble fan club?

Mr. Kimble (3:25)

Easy question.

So to join official members of the Mr. Kimble fan club, you just have to bring Mr. Kimble, that's me, a Butterfinger because that's my absolute favorite candy bar of all time. Please bring me all the Butterfingers. It's almost Halloween. Save your Butterfingers, bring them to me.

Autumn (3:39)

Thanks. So this is a very, very important question.

Lily (3:43)

How did you meet Mrs. Kimble?

Mr. Kimble (3:45)

That's a great question. So I told you about extension office, work, study, 4-H camp. So Mrs. Kimble and I met at a 4-H camp. She was an exchange camper from Pleasance County, and it was at my 4-H camp in Dodridge. It's a week long thing in a park. You live in little cabins and stuff and it's a ton of fun. But we met, she was taking a class, I was taking a class, they were side by side. I saw her and I went over and was super awkward to her. And then we started dating, I was 14 years old, and we started dating like three weeks after that, and the rest is history.
