This is VSiN, the SportsBetting Network. Welcome to the VSiN Weekend Morning Line on VSiN, the SportsBetting Network.

We've reached the final hour. It is this Labor Day weekend edition of the VSiN Weekend Morning Line, John Jastremski alongside Will Hill.

What a great time to be alive. We have the college football back in full swing. The NFL gets going on Wednesday. Patriots, Seahawks. Then you have Niners, Rams, and then the rest of the card. And away we go, Will Hill.

I feel like this Michigan, Western Michigan game is gonna be talked about quite a bit. What do you think? Imagine I was on this money line the other way. Imagine what my reaction would have been if we were starting this show. I mean, just imagine.

Will Hill (1:03)

And for anyone out there that had Western Michigan in that 20-25 to one range, my goodness, that's about as bad as it gets.

And we talked about at the beginning, it's worth getting back into here because it's a sporting event, JJ. It's a game and ending that will live forever. And it would have lived forever had it been the other way because a couple of days away from the anniversary, 19 year anniversary, I think it was of Appalachian State beating Michigan straight up. It was starting to be looking like history was going to repeat itself. This is almost now more of an iconic game, more of a memorable game, not just because we had a near upset and a 28 point upset is obviously something that's going to live forever too. But this ending is going to live forever. It's one of the great robberies in the history of sports. I don't care about secret clocks and tenths of a second. You watch that and granted, it's not like they put the ball at the two. He still needed to hail Mary and it was a great point by Nick. Cost us in our last segment. It was a hell of a throw by Underwood. It never should have happened.

I too had the game on with the sound off saying, what are they reviewing? The game is clearly over. If I'm the coach, I'm walking off the field. There's no time on the clock. It wasn't even that close. Maybe there's 12 men in the huddle, like 12 men on the field.

What could they possibly be reviewing? Western Michigan got screwed. It's a rare case, JJ, where everyone seems to be aligned on it. Nobody agrees on anything anymore. Everything is 50-50. You could say, the sun will come up tomorrow. You get people saying, I'm not sure. We'll see. Everyone seems to agree, including a bunch of Michigan fans. This was not the right ending. This was not the right winner and just an all-time screw job. It really was. It was a disappointing ending, just as a sports fan. I didn't lose a dollar on it. It had no impact on me. I don't root for either team or root against either team, but that was not right what they did to Western Michigan Saturday night.

John Jastremski (2:46)

Well, as remarkable as that Hail Mary might have been, as you just brilliantly stated, it should have never come to that. So Michigan got away with murder.

They can take to the bank that they want to know. They have no business being want to know, and I don't care if it's an overreaction or not. If they're going to play anywhere close to that against this Oklahoma team with their defense, with material quarterback, they're going to get absolutely steamrolled in the big house next week. The crazy dynamic about that game, well, they're chanting, I know you had the sound off. They're chanting, fire Kyle, pretty loudly, pretty prominently. Yeah, dude, like that was what I was hearing as that review was going down.

And then all of a sudden, it's, holy smokes, we just went on a Hail Mary. So crazy, crazy day. It wraps what ended up being a more interesting week one than I thought we were going to get. And I think the reason it ended up being interesting is because Boise really gave Oregon a scare. And I think the question is going to be, hey, Boise better than people think. Boise can hang with the big boys, give credit where credit is due. What is that performance for Oregon playing with their food and barely holding on, say more about, they're not quite as good as maybe some people thought they were at the start of this year?

Will Hill (4:11)

Yeah, I wouldn't throw dirt on them after one game and a game they won, and the offense did a nice job getting the game back on track after a sloppy really was the first quarter, they just couldn't get anything going. And Boise moved the ball, that's a red flag, wouldn't throw dirt on them, but that's certainly a red flag. Now, you're getting a little bit better of a price now than you would have gotten yesterday on Oregon, because you bylaw on them to win the title. I don't know if I'm rushing in line to do that, they still got a quarterback hoop, he can make the case, I'm not sure.
