Happy Thursday. Welcome to Couch Talks, our Q&A and update episode for the Feeling Things podcast.
Amy Moffett Brown (0:48)
I'm Amy.
Kat Defatta (0:48)
I'm Kat.
Amy Moffett Brown (0:49)
I feel like we have a lot of update or voicemails that are just sharing things versus asking questions. Although, did you hear that?
What was that?
Kat Defatta (0:59)
That happens to me sometimes too.
Amy Moffett Brown (1:00)
My throat popped.
Kat Defatta (1:01)
I think you get like air caught in your... Okay.
Amy Moffett Brown (1:04)
Wow. That felt weird.
Out of the gate, we do have a question. This was an email from Vanessa. She's 53 from Texas. She said, good morning, girls. Can you share with us The Viral Eyeshadow?
What if we all need it? So what she's referring to is on a recent-ish episode, I talked about how I kept seeing this Instagram ad for this Viral Eyeshadow. And then I found it on Amazon and I ordered it. And the brand is Gen C. You think that's a play on Gen Z?
Kat Defatta (1:39)
Yeah. Gen G-E-N, not J-E-N.
Amy Moffett Brown (1:43)
Yeah, G-E-N and then S-E-E. I don't know if they make other makeup than eye stuff, but like Gen C.
Kat Defatta (1:53)
Yeah.
Amy Moffett Brown (1:53)
C with your eyeballs, put makeup on your eyes. I got the mixed media matte liquid eyeshadow and the color that was going viral is called Rose Water.
Kat Defatta (2:03)
I have a question about this. This is a, it's liquid eyeshadow. Does it get all creasy? You know what I'm talking about?
Amy Moffett Brown (2:11)
No, it seems to blend pretty nicely. I wouldn't over apply it. Like I would just put on, a lot goes a long way. I will say that if you do get this, like a little dab and then rub it in. But if you like cover your whole eye with the brush, you might have excess and then there could be built up and that could be problematic. But Vanessa from Texas, I mean, makeup is weird. Cause what someone else likes, it might not be for you.
I had to stop paying attention to so many makeup tutorials cause I used to never be that into buying makeup. And suddenly I find myself at Sephora with a list because some girl I saw, you know, who makes the video every week about her favorite new makeups. And I'm like, wait, just last week she loved this bronzer. Now this week she loves this bronzer, which I am all about switching up products over time.
That's fine. I get that. I now you naturally learn about new things and evolve, like in a week.
Kat Defatta (3:09)
But also I feel like, and I don't even think sometimes people have filters on, but when I watch makeup videos, I think just the nature of it being a video, it makes it look different than it really is in real life. So then I'm watching them do their makeup, and I'm like, oh my gosh, it looks so good and perfect. And look at how it sits on their skin and da da da da. And then I put it on and I'm like.
Amy Moffett Brown (3:32)
That's not, that's not what it looks like, I agree.
Kat Defatta (3:36)
So I think that you have to be careful, because even sometimes I'll say that when I see some clips and videos of the podcast online, I'm like, my face didn't really look like that in real life. You know? Like I think that we don't put filters on our videos. Better.
If anybody is like, what videos are you talking about? I just sometimes I'm like, I don't really wear a lot of makeup and sometimes I'm like, oh, I can see the bronzer or the blush or the whatever. So I, and we don't put filters on our videos.
SPEAKER_6 (4:08)
No.
Kat Defatta (4:08)
So I just, I mean, it looks nice. So I'm like happy to see that. But I just had, might be the lighting.
SPEAKER_6 (4:16)
Yeah.
Kat Defatta (4:17)
I've just had to take all those kinds of videos with lots of grains of salt because I'll buy all those products and then I'll be like, huh?
Amy Moffett Brown (4:26)
So I have a question for you.
