Nan Yong has a peculiar aversion to being touched by men, which Alonzo exploits to his advantage, hoping she will fall for him due to his apparent lack of arms. However, the plot thickens when Zanzie discovers Alonzo's secret, leading to a deadly confrontation that Nan Yong partially witnesses, seeing only the telltale deformity of the murderer's hand.
As the story unfolds, Alonzo's desperation to win Nan Yong's love drives him to extreme measures. He blackmails a surgeon into amputating his arms, believing this sacrifice will secure his future with Nan Yong. However, during his absence, Nan Yong overcomes her fear of touch and falls in love with Malabar, the circus strongman played by Norman Kerry. Upon his return, Alonzo is devastated to find Nan Yong in love with another man, prompting him to hatch a dangerous plan to eliminate his rival.
