When I was transitioning out of law enforcement, I didn't resent my paycheck. I weaponized it. Your current job is your first angel investor. It pays your mortgage, buys your groceries, and funds your initial marketing campaigns without taking any equity in your new company. If you treat your day job like a prison, you kill your own funding source. Second, you have to aggressively redirect the capital. People do not escape the rat race by taking their corporate salary and buying luxury cars to feel better about their stress. They escape by taking that salary and quietly buying software, hiring offshore talent and running ads. So instead of upgrading your lifestyle, downgrade your ego.
Make your W2 paycheck the silent fuel for your true mission. Lastly, operating with a secret mission creates a lethal level of focus. When you go into the office knowing that every hour you work is actively paying for the bricks of your own castle, the corporate politics no longer bother you. Supreme emotional detachment, aggressive financial discipline, and a clear exit strategy create an unstoppable force. When you let your day job fund the dream, the dream eventually replaces the job. Bottom line, stop complaining about your boss and start using their money to build your exit. Extract the capital, fund the side hustle, and execute the plan.
