In the 1930s, critics of the Bible mocked these verses in Revelation 11 How could the whole world see these two die and the corpses laying in the street? And then we're going to read about the whole world witnessing something spectacular happening. How could the whole world see that?

Hi, this is Jim Scudder. Welcome back to InGrace. Today, we're going to learn more about God's grace, even though we're going to be looking at the end times and God's judgment. How can there be grace in the middle of judgment? Well, God sends two witnesses to the earth, bold, old-fashioned preachers that will proclaim truth to a world that doesn't want it. The world is totally duped, is totally fallen for the lie of the Antichrist and his minions. And these two are going to stand in Jerusalem and speak truth. Well, who are these two? Well, last time we talked about, it could be Moses and Aaron, Moses and Elijah, Elijah and Enoch, or it just could be two modern men that are old-fashioned preachers. We don't know, but we do know what Revelation 11 4 says. They are the two olive trees, the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And then we think back to Zechariah 4 11 that talks about these two olive trees on the right side of the candlestick and on the left side. And who are these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? And we know that the olive oil was used to light the candles in the temple. And then Zechariah 4 says in verse 14, these are the two anointed ones that stood by the Lord of the whole earth. And we know that Zerubbabel was of the royal lineage of David during the time of the second temple. And Joshua the high priest was of the Levitical tribe. And so we get some clues on this. Today we're gonna pick this up and start off talking a little bit more about these two anointed ones that were like Zerubbabel and like Joshua. And then Revelation 11.5 is where we're gonna pick this up and see what power they're gonna have. And then the whole world is gonna witness their deaths. How could this happen? The world mocked this at one time. But today every person has a phone and you can watch anything live that's actually happening right now. So all of this and more today. Who's responsible for when something grows? We can't take the credit for that, can we? We might want to, but who brings the rain? Who created the dirt? Who created the seed, right? Now we might be involved in watering and fertilizing and harvesting, but it's God, right? That gives us the olive. And then it's this same olive that is used to produce light. And God has given us the word of God, and we are responsible to bring that as light to the world. Jesus is the light of the world. We are to reflect his light as believers. And that's really what the picture is here. In the future, there will be people that will be preaching truth in Jerusalem while the temple is being rebuilt, the third temple. This is incredible. These two anointed ones, by the way, Zerubbabel, a king, Joshua, a priest. They both pictured Jesus, who was a priest and a king.

The light of the world.

When is this gonna happen?

Now, let's go back and look at the chart real quick. We need to decide whether this is going to be the first half of the Tribulation. Remember, there's a midpoint. During the first half of the Tribulation or the second half. We know it's three and a half years, 1,260 days, or 42 months. All the same. So where will these two witnesses be prophesying? Well, it's a little hard to tell. My opinion is that we're gonna see in a minute that they will be doing their prophesying, and then they will be stopped when the beast arrives. In Revelation 17, we're gonna study down the road that Satan comes out of the bottomless pit, and he indwells the Antichrist. The Antichrist will suffer a fatal wound, but he will be resurrected. I believe that Satan will indwell the Antichrist in the second half of the Tribulation, and it is at that time that these two witnesses are killed.
