Pretend to be a human?

Dylan Sweeney (0:02)

Not good. Can you look at that?

Cameron Hawk (0:03)

I would love to look at that.

Dylan Sweeney (0:04)

Does that look good?

Cameron Hawk (0:05)

Huh?

That's your attempt at being a human? We're both so bad at this. Hello. Oh, that's way better, yeah. Stay like that the whole time, yeah. You got it.

Dylan Sweeney (0:14)

That's part of the appeal of this podcast, I think.

Cameron Hawk (0:17)

Is that it's never good.

Dylan Sweeney (0:21)

That's the whole thing, it's bad on purpose. Yeah.

Oh, put this at the beginning of the video. We have Halloween play mats on the website. You should go check them out if you want to. Ready?

Cameron Hawk (0:30)

La la la la la la la la la la. Wow, my diction's terrible.

Dylan Sweeney (0:34)

Don't talk about your diction. First off, fake you out. You thought this was gonna be part two of the Tear Dex and CDH. Wrong-o.

It's not that. We are instead talking about Reality Fracture. So here we go. This podcast is brought to you in part by Dragon Shield. You should go to Play to Win 5 with the link down below for 5% off to help support the show.

Cameron Hawk (0:51)

Welcome to The Play to Win Podcast, where we talk about winning in C-E-D-H. I'm Cam.

Dylan Sweeney (0:58)

Dylan, this week we were talking about Reality Fracture in CDH, the newest Magic the Gathering set. We're going to talk about the impact. Some of the cards in the CDH format, if we think they'll be good. We got 20 to talk about.

Cameron Hawk (1:08)

So this is actually the top 20 cards in the set.

Dylan Sweeney (1:11)

We'll probably be wrong about a couple of these. I'm pretty confident on what I think are probably the two or three best ones in the set. A bunch of others might see playing some weirdo decks. We got two good ones as always, and then a bunch of other shit.

Cameron Hawk (1:20)

I have high confidence in the ones that are up at the top of our list.

Dylan Sweeney (1:24)

Everything else, maybe.

Cameron Hawk (1:25)

It looks like something that we've seen before. Let me cough and get a drink of water, and I'll be ready.

Dylan Sweeney (1:30)

How do you want to organize this? Are we going by color? Are we going by artist? Are we going by whatever? Are we keeping track as we go so we can rank them and then rank them across each other?

Cameron Hawk (1:39)

I actually just have them in the order of things that they are.

Dylan Sweeney (1:42)

Okay.

Cameron Hawk (1:43)

In the order of things that they are.

Dylan Sweeney (1:45)

All organizing methods are arbitrary in some way.

Cameron Hawk (1:51)

And I don't have them all in a spot where I can type out all the cards. And the iPad's at 8% today, so.

Dylan Sweeney (1:57)

You are just really something.

Cameron Hawk (1:59)

If I remember to charge it, it stays home.

Dylan Sweeney (2:02)

It would be a good podcast if you did that. I know. We'll try to loosely remember where everything is ranked against each other. I think we'll be able to.

Cameron Hawk (2:08)

I think this will still work. So our first card is going to be Jace, who's actually called The Theorist now. Let's talk about Jace. This is 2 and 2 blue for a legendary planeswalker, Jace, that says at the beginning of each opponent's draw step, you draw a card. You can plus them up to create a 1-1 blue illusion creature token. You can minus 2 them to have each opponent return up to one target artifact or creature they control to its owner's hand. You can minus 6 them to draw 3 cards and then put X plus 1 plus 1 counters on each creature you control, where X is the number of cards in your hand, and he comes in with 3 loyalty.

Dylan Sweeney (2:40)

Drawing a card on each player's turn, that's the part that I'm interested. That almost looks like a risk study if you squint, except it's a risk study that you can attack and it costs 4 mana, and it's worse in all of those ways plus other ways too.

Cameron Hawk (2:50)

And by the time you pass, it only has 4 loyalty if you just make the 1 once. It can protect itself for one of your opponent's creatures.

Dylan Sweeney (2:58)

From an underground blocker or something like that, right? The removal, your opponents get to choose which thing that they remove, right? Is that how it's worded?
