Hi Lee, welcome to our show.
Lee C. Camp (0:01)
Hello Savannah, good afternoon to you.
Savannah Locke (0:03)
What is happening? What's the latest?
Lee C. Camp (0:05)
Well, I would say that generally speaking, we are very occupied with getting ready for the first wedding of our sons.
Savannah Locke (0:15)
How's it going?
Lee C. Camp (0:16)
Good. It's exciting and fun and lovely and-
Are you officiating? I am.
Savannah Locke (0:24)
How sweet.
Lee C. Camp (0:25)
It is sweet. I'm very thankful that they asked me. I'm a little concerned because I have done a number of weddings over the years, and when I have been in family context of doing weddings, I tend to ugly cry, and I don't want to do that. So I'll have to practice crying ahead of time or something, I guess, to get my crying out. But yeah, it's lovely. Last night, we had a more kind of like a family extended family shower for my son Ben and his fiancee Lauren. And it was a hot summer night, and we were done, some folks were cleaning up, probably about half the people had left, but still a good crowd there, and kind of quiet. I think Norah Jones was playing on the radio or on the music, and I was just sitting there kind of off to the side thinking how happy I was, and how sweet it is to have people around who love one another, and we're all crazy in our various ways, and yet the love and the affection, and I just felt happy.
Savannah Locke (1:27)
Is there a part of you that feels, when you look at Ben, that he's still like 12 years old?
Lee C. Camp (1:35)
Yes.
Is that strange? Well, yes and no. I mean, I don't know. There's, I think, more. It's just, it's so hard to believe that he's 26, you know? It goes so quickly.
Savannah Locke (1:49)
Lee, that's really sweet. I can't wait to see pictures.
Lee C. Camp (1:53)
Yes.
Savannah Locke (1:53)
Of you ugly crying.
Lee C. Camp (1:55)
Hopefully, you won't see pictures of that. We'll see.
Savannah Locke (1:58)
Exactly. Oh, sweet Lee.
Lee C. Camp (1:59)
What's up with you?
Savannah Locke (2:01)
Lee, nothing nearly as tender as that. As you know, Brandon Flowers, the love of my life, came out with a country record.
Lee C. Camp (2:11)
It's been released? Yes. You didn't send it to me. You were going to send it to me and you haven't.
Savannah Locke (2:16)
It's because you were in the UK.
Lee C. Camp (2:17)
Okay.
Savannah Locke (2:19)
And I love it.
Lee C. Camp (2:20)
Well, good. We are going to see. I look forward to listening to it.
Savannah Locke (2:23)
His album release tour. He has like 15 dates he's doing and we're going to his Brooklyn date in September.
Lee C. Camp (2:31)
Very nice.
Savannah Locke (2:32)
Which I'm feeling really excited about. If I genuinely, and I know we've talked about different people that we would have for dream guests on the show, including but not limited to Joel Osteen. Brandon probably would be my number one at the moment.
Lee C. Camp (2:45)
Yes.
Savannah Locke (2:46)
We could kill going through those lyrics.
Lee C. Camp (2:48)
Have you asked him?
Savannah Locke (2:51)
He's kind of famous.
Lee C. Camp (2:52)
Yeah. You never know.
Savannah Locke (2:53)
How do we find, how to contact Brandon Flowers is what I would be doing.
Lee C. Camp (2:57)
You find his publicist.
Savannah Locke (2:58)
Yes. We have to find his publicist and let him know that we would go through all of his lyrics with him and nerd out. But yeah, loving his new record is called Thrasher. He is this, you are going to love this song.
I think it's called American Dream. It's the last one on the record. And he basically recounts this story. I don't think it's an actual dream or something that he had, but he kind of tells this fantasy story of him picking up Elvis in a Tesla Model X and them having a conversation. And Brandon Flowers asks in this conversation, was it all worth it?
And then he talks about Elvis crying as he asked about Lisa Marie. It's so beautiful and magical and really interesting old country vibes. Anyway, so I'm very happy at the moment. Lots of new music to listen to.
Lee C. Camp (3:44)
I do love his old country vibes that I've heard. Yeah, it's good stuff.
Savannah Locke (3:49)
And they recorded everything in Nashville live with OG.
