Hello, friends, welcome back to the show. My guest today is Katherine Dee. She's a writer, journalist, and an internet historian. There are lots of male subcultures, Incels, RedPill, Pickup Artists, Soy Boys. But what are women getting up to? Trends like Hot Girls Have IBS, Hot Girls Eat Fish, and most well known, the Girlboss meme. Katherine is here to explain just what is happening in the estrogen-fueled underbelly of the internet. Expect to learn why the Girlboss meme came about, why there is a coming wave of sex negativity, whether it's really possible to be hot while you have IBS, Katherine's biggest red flags when choosing a partner, whether it should be legal to pay to drug women so that you can have sex with their lifeless bodies, why predictable is good when dating, and much more. In other news, this episode is brought to you by Aqua Tru. Drinking water is unbelievably important to stay healthy. Obviously, 60% of our body is made of water, but if you're like me, you probably don't trust your tap water. Having safe, clean water is a difficult thing to get. The environment's working group says that three out of four homes in America have harmful contaminants in its tap water. Aqua Tru Purifiers use a four stage reverse osmosis purification process, and their countertop purifiers work with no insulation or plumbing, and it removes 15 times more contaminants than other ordinary pitcher filters. It's the same technology used by major bottled water brands, but now it is available for you in your home, and the filters are affordable and long lasting, so you only need to change them every six months to two years, and you get four and a half thousand bottles of water out of each set of filters. Also, there is a 30 day money back guarantee, and you can receive $100 off any Aqua Tru Purifier by going to bit.ly slash drink wisdom. That's bit.ly slash drink wisdom. In other other news, this episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens. You are not eating enough fruit and vegetables in your diet, and you know it, and this is going to help. One scoop of Athletic Greens contains 75 vitamins, minerals and whole food sourced ingredients, including a multi-vitamin, multi-mineral, pre and probiotic, green superfood blend and more that all work together to fill the nutritional gaps in your diet. It increases energy and focus, aids with digestion and supports a healthy immune system, all without the need to take multiple products or pills. I'd always wondered why Joe Rogan and Andrew Huberman and Tim Ferriss and Lex Friedman had been going on about it for absolutely ages, and it makes complete sense. It is the most comprehensive greens drink that I have ever tried. Plus, there is a 90-day money back guarantee, so you can buy it and try it for 89 days, and if you do not like it, they will give you your money back. Head to athleticgreens.com/modernwisdom to get that 90-day money back guarantee, a year's free supply vitamin D, five free travel packs, free pots, shakers and more, all with your first purchase. That's athleticgreens.com/modernwisdom.

It includes organic turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and limes, maine, mushroom. These ingredients are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can help improve brain function and reduce the risk of chronic disease. It's 100% USDA, organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan and kosher certified. Plus it tastes really, really good. And they advise you to take just a couple of minutes in the morning while you're making a Mudwater to meditate and plan your day. I really like the fact that there's a little ritual around it. Do you think that you're a picker-partist?
**Katherine Dee** (4:31)
No, no. That's not the question.
**Chris Williamson** (4:36)
Well, look, you recently released a podcast where you considered that you might have been a picker-partist all along, and definitely some of the insights that I've seen you write are unusually incisive, I think, about the dating world. Where have they come from? Why have you taken such an interest in attraction and mating?
**Katherine Dee** (4:54)
So yeah, I have a bit of a weird romantic history. I got married very young, and then I got divorced. And so my first real time on the dating market, I was already in my late 20s. And it was like a crash course. And it was the first, I don't know if relationship's even the right word, but my first sort of foray into dating was so humiliating, I became like autistically sort of obsessed with preventing that pain.
