The Queen of Heaven?

Dan Beecher (0:00)

You know, there's something just nice about buying from an independent company that focuses on integrity and hard work. And that's what I feel like I get with Brooklyn Bedding. I know that my Sedona Elite mattress that I got from Brooklyn Bedding, it was made in the USA, high quality materials, real attention to detail. That's the kind of thing that you just, you don't get a lot of anymore, you know? This is an American story where the founder didn't just come from some big corporate background. He just studied mattresses and built his business from the ground up, and you know, built a factory in Arizona.

And that's what you get when you have a Brooklyn Bedding mattress.

Dan McClellan (0:51)

Yeah, my wife and I, we sleep on a plank firm Lux from Brooklyn Bedding. We got the California King. We like that a little extra space. She thinks I'm trying to get away from her. I am just...

I need to spread out when I sleep. And also, I'm a hot sleeper. I run hot naturally, but Brooklyn Bedding gave me the Glaciotex covers as well. They use these copper-infused foams and temperature-regulating materials to help me stay cool and comfortable all night long. And you know, Brooklyn Bedding knows sleep isn't one size fits all. That's why they offer mattresses for every body, every sleep style, even hard to find sizes. We got the firmest mattress we could find, and it is the firmest mattress that either of us have ever slept on. And they also offer a 120-night comfort trial. If you try out Brooklyn Bedding, you will love their mattress, or they'll help you return it and swap it hassle-free. And you don't have to take my word for it. They have won awards from CNET and Wirecutter for their mattresses. They are very, very good at what they do.

One crunchy bite of our Hershey's Cookies and Cream Bar, and I'm taking right back to college move-in day. I was a little overwhelmed by the newness of it all. Boxes were everywhere, I needed a break from unpacking. But just as I was able to take a breath and open my Hershey's Cookies and Cream Bar, my new roommate Rachel walked in. I offered her a piece, but she said no.

Then after a beat, she said, actually those are my favorite ones.

Dan McClellan (2:44)

We left.

SPEAKER_3 (2:44)

The ice was broken, and we've been friends ever since.

Dan Beecher (2:48)

Hershey's, it's your happy place.

Dan McClellan (2:52)

You just do not see the Bible coming up. In the actual formation of the federal government, the US Constitution, it just doesn't happen.

Hey, everybody, I'm Dan McClellan.

Dan Beecher (3:09)

And I'm Dan Beecher.

Dan McClellan (3:10)

And this is Data Over Dogma, where we increase public access to the academic study of the Bible and religion, and we combat the spread of misinformation about the same. How are things today, Dan?

Dan Beecher (3:21)

It's a glorious summer or spring day. It's not quite summer, but it's getting warmer, and I do appreciate that.

Dan McClellan (3:29)

Yes, it's windy today, but the last couple of days, it's been nicer.

Dan Beecher (3:35)

Yeah, so life is good. We have some crazy stuff to talk about this week.

I'm going to enjoy talking about it. First, we're doing a What's That, or maybe it should be a Who's That, because we're gonna hit The Queen of Heaven.

Dan McClellan (3:54)

The very same, yeah.

Dan Beecher (3:56)

Which I was surprised by, and I think it's gonna be a really fascinating topic of conversation. And then we're gonna take issue. And the issue we're going to take is with the notion that these here United States of America were founded by and founded as a Christian nation. And boy, I think the jumping off point is the claim that was made recently by, most recently by the America Reads the Bible thing that we talked about a little bit ago, that the Bible is the most quoted text from any of the founding fathers, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So we're gonna dive into that. We're gonna get into it. So that'll be a lot of fun. But first, what's that?

Okay, so the Queen of Heaven, not the Queen of Hearts, but the Queen of Heaven, you say it could be used multiple ways.
