The Oxytocin Masterclass | A Complete Research Guide (2026)

The Hunter Williams Podcast

October 20, 2026

Most people know oxytocin as the love hormone. That’s only a small part of the story. In this masterclass I break down what I’ve learned using oxytocin myself and digging through 70 years of human data. It was the first peptide hormone ever made in a lab. It’s still an FDA-approved drug today.

At REI Co-op, we don't just sell outdoor gifts. We use them, test them, trust them. So we know what to give this season for joy rides, campfire cheers, and peak views.

We know what to give the people you love who love to get out there, because we're out there too. Just stop in and ask a green vest like me. For the best gifts out there, shop in store or at rei.com.

Hey, everybody. This is Hunter Williams. I hope you're doing amazing wherever you might be in the world. I am so excited because today I'm going to be diving into the Oxytocin Masterclass. You've probably heard of Oxytocin using the peptide board. Obviously, hopefully you've probably heard of Oxytocin in general. It's usually known as the love hormone or the bonding hormone. And if you didn't know, it actually can be used therapeutically in medical settings or research settings to get some desired outcomes, maybe around emotional states, but then also around some physical stuff too. So I'm excited for this one because I think a lot of people are familiar with the concept of oxytocin that being a bonding hormone, for which we can definitely apply it therapeutically. But there's also a lot of other use cases too, in regards to other things that may do in the body that you probably haven't heard of before. So I'm excited for that reason because obviously people know it for one thing. But I think when we talk about it in the peptide research application realm, there's lots of other really cool things that we can use it for, especially in a case-by-case or short-term situation. I would say in terms of cycling, it's not one peptide that it's very defined eight weeks on, eight weeks off. It's much more of an acute use type peptide, although you could use it in cyclical fashion to achieve a certain outcome. So we'll cover all those things today, kind of the background mechanisms, dosing, side effects, how to use different applications and things like that. So I'm super excited for that. Before I do, just make sure you're on the email list in case censorship does rear its nasty head. Also too, if you want more access to me for group coaching, the best place to do that is my private group, the Axion Collective. And also too, if you have not yet, I highly recommend you check out my AI Chat app. It's available now in the App Store and the Play Store, so you can get it on your mobile device and use it there as well. But had really good feedback on that so far, and I think it's very useful if you want to interact my content and ask questions around my content because I have my whole library updated there or uploaded there where you can check it out. So without further ado, I'm going to share my screen, and today we are going to cover Oxytocin. All right, let's get into it. Today is going to be the Oxytocin Masterclass. Obviously, you probably know this as the love or bonding hormone, but today we're going to talk about that and some other applications as well.

Just as a bit of an intro, obviously, people know it as the love hormone, but a lot of times we don't realize it actually can amplify whatever situation we're in. That is a loving pair-bonding type situation. It can amplify that. However, if it's a negative situation, it can also amplify that as well. So we'll cover that a little bit. It's a 9-amino acid hormone our brain makes daily. It was actually the first ever peptide hormone ever synthesized in a lab, which is pretty cool. It's also been an FDA-approved drug for labor and delivery, obviously, for women that are delivering babies for over 50 years.

It has a single receptor that also spans the brain, uterus and women, gut, heart, and muscle, which is why it's pretty cool because we can apply it to all these different areas to maybe get certain outcomes that are beneficial to us. But it touches obviously bonding and emotional relationships, but also stress, appetite, sex, and orgasm, and then also digestion and muscle repair. So lots of different use cases for it. We'll cover all of those today. Also too, in terms of the chemical structure, like I said, it's a nono peptide, meaning nine amino acids linked by a sulfur bridge into a ring with a short tail. So our hypothalamus in the brain makes it. It ships it to the posterior pituitary and then releases it into the bloodstream. Neurons also release it directly into the brain as a neuromodulator. In 1953, a guy named Vincent Du Bignaud synthesized it, which again was made for the first time. And again, it was the first peptide hormone ever built in the lab, earning the 1955 Nobel Prize in chemistry. Actually didn't know that until I started going through and doing the research for the masterclass today.
