Glen is joined in the studio by performance dietician, author and friend of the show, Jess Spendlove, to talk about the one investment most money-minded people completely overlook. Jess's book, For The Long Run: https://link.

We talk about investing a lot on this show. We talk about getting your house in order in a financial sense. One thing that I like to drop in and drop out of every year or so is an episode on personal performance, an investment into yourself, into your own health, into you, the big bag of bones and chemicals. And today, joining me on the show, if you have been a listener of Our World for some time, you will know the name.
Jess Spendlove is here with me in the studio. She's got a new book called For The Long Run, and it's out pretty much, I would say order it now, it's out this month because I don't know if you know this Jess, but when you release a book, they'll put online the release dates whatever day it is. So if yours could be like 29th of July, whatever that is, order it, because as soon as the retailers get the book, even before the release date, they'll just ship it.

**Jess Spendlove** (1:08)
Yeah, great.

**Glen James** (1:08)
So I would say it's out now, order it now. We're gonna talk about that and more. Just tell everybody a little bit about who you are, what you do and all the good stuff and welcome back.

**Jess Spendlove** (1:20)
Thank you. Thank you, Glen. It's nice to be back and to see the new studio. Love it. Well done.

**Glen James** (1:26)
Thank you.

**Jess Spendlove** (1:27)
Thank you.
Today, I spend my time speaking, coaching, advising, hosting my own podcast, Stay At The Top, and now adding author to that list. But basically, I speak, write, and coach on what I would call sustainable high performance. So for me, health is the foundation of that. And my background, if you've met me before from the My Millennial Health Days.

**Glen James** (1:52)
I didn't want to say that and cause trauma for us, but Jess used to host our show.

**Jess Spendlove** (1:57)
We have a long relationship. It got murky with a third party person, if we can say that. But my background is a performance dietician. So I've kind of always been in this health and performance world. And historically, it's been more from a nutrition lens, elite sport, special forces, speaking and coaching in the corporate world. But now it's broader. And that's what the book and everything I talk about. It's not just nutrition, but it's the exercise and stress and recovery and sleep and connection and how people can find something that works for them.
We're in the era of optimization, which I think people are sick of. And I agree, because the 10-step 5am protocol doesn't work for everyone. It works for very few. And we're all here pushing and thinking we have to do a thousand things, setting and overhauling and burning ourselves out. And, you know, this book is really... My intention is it's bridging the gap from what we know, what we think we should do, to what each person can do for them and their life and where they're at.

**Glen James** (3:10)
So, the challenge to everyone listening, I know it's a money show, but please listen and at least try and get one thing out of this that you can implement.
The strapline for the book is build your daily operating system for energy, recovery and well-being. So, what we're going to do today is we'll get through some listener questions.
I want to ask you a little bit more about the buque and then we'll see if we can get into some other trouble along the way as well, but yes, back in the day, this podcast used to be called My Millennial Money. We had some spinoffs over the time. One of them was My Millennial Health and Jess did that for some time with us. And it was such a great product or solution that really helped people. Because what's good, you've got all the money in the world, but if you're a piece of crap, well, it doesn't matter. And I don't mean like a piece of crap. I mean, probably do, but like if you're a piece of crap, and it's something that you can control. I'm not saying stuff that is out of our control. I'm saying, well, what can we control about our own health and our own life?

**Jess Spendlove** (4:17)
Within your control and within your finances as well. Like I'm have a very practical, realistic approach for everyone. And exactly everyone listening, you're here wanting to invest in yourself, invest in your wealth.
And imagine doing all of that and getting to the point and then you don't have your health to enjoy it. So I want you to enjoy it today, tomorrow and for the long run.
