Infertility, gardening and common. We saw The Odd Life of Timothy Green. So you know what that means.

Hello people of Earth and welcome to How Did This Get Made? I am Paul Scheer, joined as always by Jason Mantzoukas. How are you Jason?

June Diane Raphael (2:11)

I'm good, how are you?

Paul Scheer (2:12)

And June Diane Raphael, how are you June?

June Diane Raphael (2:14)

Good, hi Paul.

Paul Scheer (2:15)

And we have a very special guest today. You know this guy from Tim and Eric and his amazing podcast On Cinema. Please welcome Tim Heidecker.

Tim Heidecker (2:24)

Thank you very much.

Paul Scheer (2:25)

Thank you so much. So this movie, The Odd Life of Timothy Green.

Tim Heidecker (2:28)

Did you pick me because of my first name for this movie?

Jason Mantzoukas (2:31)

Yes, I thought it would be good. We went out to a bunch of Tims.

Tim Heidecker (2:34)

Timothy Bottoms, Tim Hutton, Tim Blake Nelson.

Paul Scheer (2:38)

They all wanted to do it.

June Diane Raphael (2:39)

Tiny Tim. Tiny Tim was in for a minute then he fell out.

Tim Heidecker (2:43)

He's dead isn't he?

Paul Scheer (2:45)

Yes, he's dead.

June Diane Raphael (2:45)

We found out he's dead.

Paul Scheer (2:46)

But he was very happy.

SPEAKER_6 (2:47)

So he's pretty much permanently unavail.

SPEAKER_5 (2:49)

Well, but right before we started talking...

June Diane Raphael (2:51)

Permanently unavail cemetery.

Tim Heidecker (2:56)

But didn't he record a lot of his opinions about a variety of things that you could have said?

June Diane Raphael (3:01)

Including future possible storylines in movies.

SPEAKER_6 (3:05)

We're going to cut that into this episode.

Paul Scheer (3:07)

He talked about Pacific Rim.

Tim Heidecker (3:10)

Some graduate student wrote out a million movie scenarios and just kept at it.

Jason Mantzoukas (3:14)

And Tiny Tim gave his opinion on a lot of them.

Paul Scheer (3:17)

And I have to say, all of them are pretty good.

Jason Mantzoukas (3:19)

Pretty dead on.

Paul Scheer (3:20)

Like right on. And he predicts certain celebrities that really pop big and can go away. He's a really amazing guy.

So let's talk about this movie. Where before we started talking... This is a movie that June and I saw in the theater with a bunch of people and I was like, what is this movie? Because it's to me, it feels a little bit like like a Frank Capra-esque film.

June Diane Raphael (3:45)

Sure.

Paul Scheer (3:46)

Like, but also written by someone who might have been going through dementia or something like someone who had like was capable of one time of creating an idyllic world. But then just things got a little lost along the way, I feel like.

June Diane Raphael (3:59)

I mean, it's interesting because, like you said, we were talking about it before we started. And I think that and Tim and I both were saying that we had maybe perhaps more. This is without a doubt the first How Did This Get Made movie that when I, at the end of watching it, I was like, oh, I might have liked this. Like this is not nearly as horrible as I thought it was going to be. And in fact, parts of it were genuinely won me over.
