The LL-37 Masterclass | A Research Guide (2026)

The Hunter Williams Podcast

September 8, 2026

LL-37 is the peptide I think everyone should have on hand and almost nobody should be taking every day. It's the only cathelicidin in the human body. That's an antimicrobial peptide your immune system makes to punch holes in bacteria, break up biofilms, and neutralize endotoxins.

Hey everybody, this is Hunter Williams. I hope you're doing amazing wherever you might be in the world. Today's Masterclass is going to be all about LL-37. I'm a big fan of LL-37 in the right cases or instances that you might need it. As the old saying goes, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. And I think that's very applicable to LL-37. It's kind of an anti-microbial peptide and will go into the mechanisms and everything today. But I love LL-37. I think it's one of those ones that you should always have on hand, but you only need to use in specific situations. This is not going to be something that you need to take on a daily basis. It's kind of a four to six week thing that you might need for a certain situation that will cover, and then you shouldn't need it. And so, there's a little bit of uncertainty around LL-37, and I'll cover that today. It's not one that has ever been covered in human trials or anything, at least extensively to the point of having kind of the definitive knowledge base on it. And so, when we talk about it today, we're going to veer off into the realm of anecdote, as I like to say a lot of times, because although we don't have a lot of human trials, I've seen this one used very successfully in specific cases, and I'll kind of give you my take and commentary on that from what I've seen in my own life and then also in the life of people that I coach and out there that I've heard from feedback from other people. So, we'll cover that today. It's a really exciting peptide. Again, it's not one that is a major needle mover in the sense of creating a bunch of fat loss or anything like that, but it can be very good for the right reasons. As always, make sure that you are on the email list. Censorship is definitely on the rise out there, and every day I get up, I am grateful that I have all my channels up, but that's not to say that something can't happen. So if you want to stay in contact with me, the best place to do that is the email list. As always, if you want more access to me, the best place to do that is my group. It's called the Axion Collective. That's always in the link down below that you can click on, and then click the link to that. And then also to check out my free AI Chat app. It's going really well with that. We have thousands of people using that and getting good results and things on there. So check that out if you want to be able to ask me questions or have answers to some of your peptide questions that would have been in my content, but you're not in the private group or don't want to comb through all of my videos. So without further ado, I'm going to share my screen and today we're going to cover LL-37. All right, let's get into it. Today's going to be the LL-37 Masterclass. I'm really excited to this one just because I've seen it do so many good things in specific use cases. A little bit of an introduction today. LL-37 is not one of these like longevity or fat loss peptides like I mentioned. It is more of a defense peptide. If you're watching the video, I've got this little graphic of the castle on there.

Throwback to medieval times, I love just watching movies and stuff about medieval history and even ancient history. But anyway, it's a defense peptide and it's also the only, I'm going to do my best to pronounce this today, the only catholicidin in the human genome. Basically, this is an endogenous peptide that our body already makes. And I think some of the confusion or anxiety or nervousness around using LL-37 comes from the fact that oftentimes in the disease states in the body, LL-37 is upregulated. And so it's one of those things people will say, well, if we're taking something that's higher in disease states, does that mean it's going to cause disease? Obviously, not necessarily, but that's something when we come to talking about the application of LL-37 we want to be conscious of. But every cut that we have on the body, every respiratory virus that we have, anything like that, any infection, typically is going to trigger the release of LL-37. Basically, it works through punching holes in bacterial membranes, breaking up biofilms, neutralizing endotoxins, and it also calls immune cells to a problem site in the body. It also helps skin close wound cells, or excuse me, skin close wounds. So if you have a wound, it will help close the wound. But in the wrong person, it can make autoimmune disease particularly worse. And so we want to make sure that we're using context for evaluating when there would be application of LL-37.
