And we're back. We actually had a crazy track day.
We have crazy videos coming out. It's crazy, it's crazy around here, that's all I'm saying. You and I are wearing the branding, not because we just thought we'd wear the branding again, we just got done with the mini shoot. So now we're recording and we're thrilled to be with you. So if you aren't watching, yes, I am wearing a red shirt and Paul is wearing a blue shirt, they will see Everyday Driver on him. We did the whole thing. We had to do a shoot, now we're here. We're thrilled to be back on the podcast. We have all of the things, lots of news, lots of new product news. We were supposed to talk about the Tesla Roadster today, but guess what's been delayed again? Weather. It's been delayed again.
Paul Schmucker (0:51)
Apparently weather, they moved it because there's cold gas thrusters that need to operate properly.
Todd Deeken (0:56)
There'll be more comments later and I'm sure it's actually going to have thrusters because Elon said thus it should be. But if we waited another year, then it really will be a full decade since it was supposed to come out. Anyway, other bits of news coming up front. We have a really cool topic Tuesday. It's kind of a nostalgia discussion. And then we have two car debates, conclusions, questions. We have it all.
Paul Schmucker (1:17)
It's an existential car debate.
Todd Deeken (1:19)
It is.
Paul Schmucker (1:19)
A little bit.
Todd Deeken (1:20)
Yeah, it is a little bit.
Paul Schmucker (1:21)
News from BMW, the gas-powered new Noya Class 3-Series has been introduced. Here it is.
It sits alongside the new i3 with the exact same styling, but not the exact same proportions. You can see it instantly here, but I have a little tutorial to go through today. It's going to be rather revealing.
Todd Deeken (1:41)
That's the first photo I've seen that doesn't make this look good.
Paul Schmucker (1:44)
You don't like it, huh?
Todd Deeken (1:45)
Not, not something about this angle. The nose looks too big in that photo. Because I actually, in general, like this styling, and I think it looks like a progression of the styling of the old Evo 10 in many ways.
Paul Schmucker (1:56)
Okay.
Todd Deeken (1:57)
And obviously, I'm a fan of that car. I think this is good looking. I want to see it in the metal, but that first photo you showed, the nose just looked too big.
Paul Schmucker (2:05)
It is, it's, I mean.
Todd Deeken (2:07)
Part of that's just the lenses.
It's a little bit the lenses. Yeah, they may have used a wide there, who knows? But the point is, it's just not, that one looks better.
Paul Schmucker (2:15)
Looks better, and here's the rear view, so you can see the new. I really don't like the rear. You don't like the rear?
Todd Deeken (2:19)
No.
Paul Schmucker (2:20)
Really?
Todd Deeken (2:21)
No, no, no. The rear looks like, what was the guy that?
Paul Schmucker (2:24)
Lincoln MKZ?
Todd Deeken (2:25)
Well, that's not bad, but it's the villain in Fantastic Four. It looks like him with the eyes and the wings off the side. It doesn't look right to me. The rest of it I actually really like.
And here's the thing, if there's gonna be an ugly portion of a BMW, let's make it the rear, because we've had an ugly front for a while.
Paul Schmucker (2:41)
Because we've done the front, so let's change it.
Todd Deeken (2:43)
And at least the rear, you're rarely ever gonna see it.
Paul Schmucker (2:45)
I mean, the front looks actually quite good.
Todd Deeken (2:47)
It looks good. This is a good athletic-looking stance. I do like it, yeah.
Paul Schmucker (2:51)
Okay, so here's the rear. This 3-liter inline-6 combines the 48-volt mild hybrid technology system to produce 437 horsepower, 428 pound-feet of maximum torque. Of course, the electric motor is integrated inside the transmission for an additional 17 horsepower. Standard xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. So right now, you can only get the gas-powered car with all-wheel drive. That's it, 8-speed steptronic transmission, 3.9 to 60, 155 mile-an-hour top speed. So all kind of the same thing. It's quick and it's probably going to be interesting, pretty good to drive. But the big news here is drift moment, drift moment.
