Dead in the desert, or a ghost unburied, or a demon or a ghost. Thou shalt find here no water to drink.
SPEAKER_3 (0:27)
Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own.
SPEAKER_2 (0:30)
Into our house enter thou not, to our fence.
Dan Cummins (0:35)
Break through, thou not. We are protected, though we may be frightened.
SPEAKER_2 (0:39)
Our life, you may not steal, though we may be scared to death.

Hello, Lulu Marie.
Lynze Cummins (0:54)
Yes.
Dan Cummins (0:55)
What? We're just gonna get right into it.
Lynze Cummins (0:57)
We're just going to dive right in.
Dan Cummins (0:58)
What paranormal listener claims have you chosen to share this week from those sent in to My Story at scaredtodeathpodcast.com?
Lynze Cummins (1:04)
I have a very good and classic haunted house tale. And I think people are gonna love it because it takes place in West Pitston. If you remember, that's where the Smurl family haunting happened. So already like a spoopy location.
And then my second tale is just so creepy and strange, a cemetery encounter that I can't quite figure out if it was human or paranormal.
Dan Cummins (1:28)
Okay.
Lynze Cummins (1:28)
All right.
Dan Cummins (1:30)
Looking forward to those, both of those. Do my haunted house stories continue to be my favorites after all these years?
Lynze Cummins (1:35)
I know. And I haven't had a really good one in a while. And I really like, I was like, okay, I don't know that. That would freak me out.
Dan Cummins (1:40)
Yeah. For both of mine, we're going to head to the Middle East today.
My first story on an island in the Persian Gulf, four soldiers assigned to guard an isolated military outpost allegedly died together under mysterious and terrifying circumstances. Years later, another man would approach this now abandoned post after dark and claim to witness something incredibly bizarre, but also a possible confirmation of one of the main theories about what might actually live at this place and what had killed those soldiers. So being a little mysterious on purpose. Next, I will take you to Egypt, to an extravagant royal palace that underwent a macabre transformation from a house of life and light to the empty former home of the dead. The stranger story associated with this one, with this one time royal palace, concerns a group of young men who entered on a dare and claimed that while searching for the exit, they got truly lost in a very decidedly unnatural way. And again, being a little mysterious not to spoil it.
So what are this week's spoopy socks before I get into it?
Lynze Cummins (2:42)
These spoopy spox, spoopy, What?
Dan Cummins (2:44)
Spoopy spox. Spoopy spox.
Lynze Cummins (2:46)
Well, because in my mind, I was thinking that they're so good because they're snoopy spoopy socks.
Dan Cummins (2:49)
Snoopy spoopy spox.
Lynze Cummins (2:51)
Snoopy spoopy spox that you can get at info.com. thanks.com.
Yeah, they're so cute. They're perfect. They're little like mummy snoopies.
Dan Cummins (3:00)
Nice.
Lynze Cummins (3:00)
They're so cute.
Dan Cummins (3:01)
Did you just say thanks.com from like last time? Yeah, I forgot about that. I was like, wait a minute. That was great.
Okay. So just sit back and enjoy this one.
Time now for the tale of The Jinn Castle.
No one disappeared or reported seeing some sort of hideous creature crawling up across the walls and then along the ceiling. No one woke up covered in any unexplained wounds. It didn't start off nearly that intense, although it would end extremely intense. Instead, it began when the men started to hear things, only hear things as is almost always the case at night.
When darkness settled over the western edge of Quiche Island and a quiet had fallen over most of the surrounding landscape, some soldiers stationed at the post supposedly began to notice strange sounds coming from somewhere around them. The sounds of something rustling about and the sound of something scratching. The Persian word sometimes used in accounts of this legend is kush kush, a dry irregular rustling.
It's the kind of sound that will make you think something is moving about just outside of whatever room you are in. The sound of something possibly starting to move inside the room you are in.
Other nights, the soldiers reportedly heard something described as haam haameh, an unsettling murmuring, something vaguely resembling a collection of distant voices.
Sometimes these sounds seem to come from outside of the building, other times much more upsetting, they seem to come from somewhere within it. And of course, there are all kinds of perfectly reasonable explanations for noises like these. For one thing, Quiche Island is frequently windy, and the old station where all of this was occurring contained openings through which air could move. There are also insects and nocturnal animals.
