Eliot Shorr-Parks here along with me and Jalyx Hunt. I feel like I haven't seen you in forever. We didn't have a show last week with the Phils.

Jalyx Hunt (0:19)

It's been a little bit. It's been a little bit. How are y'all doing?

Eliot Shorr-Parks (0:21)

We're doing all right.

Spike Eskin (0:22)

How are you? Been quite the week in Philly sports.

Eliot Shorr-Parks (0:24)

Yeah, not a great week in Philly sports.

Jalyx Hunt (0:26)

Yeah, we've had better weeks.

Spike Eskin (0:28)

Better weeks to come. Yeah, for sure.

Eliot Shorr-Parks (0:30)

So you guys don't lose a lot, right? But you've lost two in a row. What is the vibe after the game and then the vibe in general when you guys are not playing well and are losing football games?

Jalyx Hunt (0:45)

Which you want the vibe of the locker room in the building or the vibe of Philadelphia?

Eliot Shorr-Parks (0:50)

No, I know the vibe of Philadelphia.

Spike Eskin (0:52)

I think you got four hours of the vibe of Philly today during this show.

Eliot Shorr-Parks (0:55)

Yeah, nothing I know better.

Jalyx Hunt (0:57)

I mean you guys.

The vibe in the locker room is this is a job to us. So we're looking at it very objectively. Yes, we lost the game. What did we do wrong? What did we do right? And then we have to implement that and know how we're going to approach that going into the next game, going into the weeks going forward. Like Nick is always saying, chop wood, carry water, wash your hands, do the little things, do the small things. So that's all we're focusing on and doing.

Spike Eskin (1:23)

When you say, you know, you guys have to look at it, kind of remove emotion a little bit. Was that always easy for you coming into the league or is that something that you've had to get better at as you're now entering your fourth year, if I'm not mistaken?

Jalyx Hunt (1:36)

Third. Third.

Spike Eskin (1:37)

My bad, third.

Jalyx Hunt (1:38)

Yeah, now this is a learned thing. This is a learned trip. Yeah? It was hard early in your career? Man, in college, in college I lost a lot.

Spike Eskin (1:45)

So I was going to ask that because a lot of players on this team did not lose a lot.

Jalyx Hunt (1:48)

Did not lose at all.

Spike Eskin (1:49)

Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Jalyx Hunt (1:52)

Totally different.

Spike Eskin (1:53)

A little different in your school?

Jalyx Hunt (1:55)

So when I lost in college, I felt like the world was coming down and I was going to die.

Now you know the vibe of the city. Now I understand the vibe, so I can relate to that a lot. But when it becomes your job and it becomes your livelihood, and then you focus so much on the details at the professional level, that you have to take emotion out of it. Because if you're only fueled by emotion, you'll miss things, and then you'll make the same mistakes going forward. Like, you can't feel like you did good, so you're okay. You have to know that you did well, and you have to be able to look at film and have things to provide the fact that, yeah, I play well, I didn't play well, okay, how do I fix it, how do I do that? And that's something that you have to be very honest with yourself. And in the building, when you have meetings with coaches, and you're doing unit meetings, I imagine Coach Fangio is pretty honest. Man, very honest guy, very straightforward, deadpan, no emotion to him at all. So you kind of piggyback off of him. So it can hurt your feelings if you're going into it, wanting to play well and wanting to not have emotion into it. But when you're going into the game and you're focusing, when you're going into the film room, focusing on the game, looking at it from a very objective standpoint, it's a lot different.

Spike Eskin (3:11)

It is always surprising to me, obviously at the game Sunday watching it, and you have the emotion, your emotion fuels your opinion of what happened. Then you watch the game the next day, I watch it at home, no sound, not in front of a bunch of people, and it just looks so different. I'm always surprised how true that is, because that's something I've heard players say, people who work at the station say, here we go, we got some fries here.
