The Houthis Are Winning & AI Is Making Them More Dangerous | EYES ON GEOPOLITICS

All right, hey everybody, welcome to another episode of Eyes On Geopolitics. I'm Dee, I'm here with Jonhathan Hackett and Andy Milburn, my two marines. Mick Mulroy out today. Congratulations to him, he just became a grandpa, so shout out to our boy Mick. Marc P, I don't even know what's happened to him. It's like I don't even know him anymore, and he's my fellow Greek. But anyway, back to the show. Lot happening over the last week. Dizzying again. We haven't shot as many missiles, I guess, at Iran, so I guess that's a plus, but the big story from a couple days ago is the Houthis are making advances towards the Strait. I'm gonna butcher this name. I always butcher it. That's why I call it the Red Sea Strait. Bob Al-Mandeb.

And at the same time, the Saudi pipeline, east to west pipeline got attacked by most likely Iranian militias in Iraq, taking that offline. So if you see, if you're tracking like the oil price, it's over 100 bucks after hours. I think it's like 105, we're getting close to it. We'll see what happens when the market's open, obviously.

The big crazy story that came out and actually on Anthropic, there's a huge story with AI where AI is gonna kill us all and stuff like that. That deserves its own podcast on its own. But the little bit, Anthropic put out a report saying that the Houthis were using Claude Code for like, and Jon will explain this better. Like missile telemetry, like just getting a ton of information. Supposedly, Anthropic thwarted it. That's what they've said. Who knows how they're using it. If they're still using it, most likely they are. And also the AI, the grander AI story about like, they're gonna, it's gonna kill us all and everyone's freaking out. That's another podcast entirely because, you know, there's a lot of argument to be made on both sides in terms of that. Another big part is, you know, we talk about freedom of navigation and that's why we have like, you know, 12 aircraft carriers and a huge Navy budget. But the US let, I guess, tanker companies and shipping companies know that there's like certain windows where they can pass through the Strait of Hormuz with actual defense coverage. So if that doesn't speak to, you know, our lack of control of the Strait of America, I mean, the Strait of Hormuz, I don't know what does. You know, obviously, our stockpiles are continuously being depleted because I do feel like, and correct me if I'm wrong, guys, like shooting SM-6s at, whether it's drones or ballistic missiles, to try and protect tankers, I don't know if that's exactly cost effective for us because those SM-6s are not exactly cheap. Obviously, we have like the Sea Ram and stuff like that, or the Sea Wiz, sure. But I'm sure that, you know, you have to let a missile or a drone get pretty close for the Sea Ram to be effective. So I guess we all have, we have windows now in terms of if you want to transfer the straight. Also, I'll say another thing because you've seen a lot of talking points over the last couple of weeks about like the straights bringing out 15, 20 million barrels a day. Absolute bullshit. You're either an idiot or you're lying, if you believe that. That's the case.

So, we have a lot going on today. I hopefully will hit everything. Obviously, we saw that big Haaretz article, you know, Israel's elections coming up. There's an October surprise, like I guess in every election, about how the UAE called up, the UAE king or leadership called up Bibi Netanyahu prior to October 7th and warned them about Yaya Sinwar, you know, cooking up something like a big attack and nothing was done on Bibi's side. And, you know, according to, especially according to Andy's research in his book coming out, it seems like on the lower end of the Intel poll, like the Union 8200 people in the Shin Bet people obviously saw that there was tratter about a big attack happening and it didn't go to the necessary people for making decisions.

And October 7th happened. So that's a huge, huge story out of Israel, you know, and it's more or less October 7th, whether you like it or not, has definitely changed the face of the Middle East, our Middle East policy too. It's not just Israel that's bombing indiscriminately.

It's us too. So, and we're involved in this just as much as they are. So there's a fuck ton of stuff happening. Sorry for the like the long intro, but there is so much stuff. And also there's a fun little story out of Tbilisi, Georgia, where the Trump Organization is planning on building a huge hotel. Georgia obviously, and the Dream Party, right? Is that what it's called? It's like, you know. The Dream. Yeah, they love, you know, they're aligned with Putin. You know, obviously, there's, I'm sure, a big undercurrent in Georgia about being anti-Russian too, but there is a party there that's pretty aligned with Vladimir Putin, and they're all making nice to try and build a big condo development, hotel development, some 70 stories in Tbilisi. So, like, the grifting and the money making schemes doesn't end when you become president, I guess.
