We created Intvl, which is a gamified running app. You run around the block, and you claim territory on a live global map. People are just so much more motivated to go out and do that activity when they get a notification that their territory has just been stolen. It becomes quite personal.

**Jason Calacanis** (0:15)
You're taking the competitive spirit, you're taking the slot machine nature of apps and smartphones, and you're using it for good.

**Lon** (0:59)
We're talking to the founder of Intervol. It is a running app that's gamified, Jason. So you don't just do your daily run. You claim the territory around which you've run.
And so it turns it into sort of a social community, you know, sort of feature. Let's meet the founder, Louis Phillips.

**Jason Calacanis** (1:18)
Louis, how are you?

**Louis Phillips** (1:20)
Louis, very well. Thanks. Thanks so much for having me on. Really excited.

**Lon** (1:23)
Thank you so much for showing up.

**Jason Calacanis** (1:24)
Great studio there.

**Lon** (1:25)
Louis is in Australia, Jason. So it is the middle of the night for him.

**Jason Calacanis** (1:29)
Hold on, let me hear the accent. Say the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. Go ahead, let me hear it.

**Louis Phillips** (1:34)
The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

**Jason Calacanis** (1:36)
Louis seems kind of tough. So I was gonna go with Melbourne, but he's not that tough. He seems kind of nice.

**Lon** (1:45)
More like a Brisbane guy, you're thinking now?

**Jason Calacanis** (1:47)
No, it's the Sydney guys are a little softer on the range. So I'm gonna go Sydney. Where are you from?

**Lon** (1:54)
I'm from Melbourne.

**Louis Phillips** (1:54)
I'm calling in from Melbourne.

**Jason Calacanis** (1:57)
So you're performative right now. You're being a little professional, but talk how you actually talk.

**Louis Phillips** (2:04)
Exactly. No, this is it. This is how I actually talk.

**Jason Calacanis** (2:09)
How about if I said, hey mate, you get the fuck out of the way and let me get to the bathroom. What would you say?

**Louis Phillips** (2:14)
Yeah, I feel like I'm home. I feel like I'm home. I was actually born in Western Australia, which is.

**Lon** (2:18)
Wow.

**Jason Calacanis** (2:19)
You notice the difference, Lon? You hear him now?

**Lon** (2:21)
Yeah, a little bit. You see? He let it down. Yeah.

**Jason Calacanis** (2:23)
This is a Melbourne guy trying to sound fancy like the Sydney guys. You should just embrace your Melbourne. You ever see this Mr. Nobody?

**Louis Phillips** (2:32)
I haven't. No.

**Lon** (2:33)
Are you talking about Mr. Nobody or Mr. In-Between?

**Jason Calacanis** (2:35)
The guy who's like a hitman gangster.

**Lon** (2:38)
Wasn't that Mr. In-Between? I think that that's the Australian series. Yeah. Yeah. The Scott Ryan. I'm pretty sure that's what you're thinking of.
Oh, because you told me to watch it. You were like, Lon, you got to see it.

**Jason Calacanis** (2:49)
Yeah, it's Mr. In-Between. Look at this guy. This is the classic Melbourne guy.

**Louis Phillips** (2:54)
Yeah, nice. I've seen shorts of him on TikTok.
That's parts of Melbourne for sure.

**Jason Calacanis** (3:01)
This is your classic Melbourne guy.

**Lon** (3:03)
Scott Ryan is that guy's name.

**Jason Calacanis** (3:05)
This guy stopped doing it. He's got the greatest character of all time. This character is literally the level of Tony Soprano or Walter White.

**Lon** (3:15)
Wow. High praise.

**Jason Calacanis** (3:17)
Breaking Bad or the guy in the Shield. What's the guy from the Shield?

**Lon** (3:21)
Oh, God. Vic something?

**Jason Calacanis** (3:24)
Vic Mackie.

**Lon** (3:25)
Vic Mackie, of course. How could I forget Vic Mackie?

**Jason Calacanis** (3:27)
If you want a canonical tough guy, anti-hero, this guy is so tough. They need to make a crossover between him and Walter White for a series where one's trying to get.

**Lon** (3:41)
Walter White's dead, though. Breaking bad spoilers, folks.

**Jason Calacanis** (3:44)
Maybe. Or maybe you could do an integration. All right.

**Lon** (3:47)
All right.

**Jason Calacanis** (3:47)
Luis, we've a little... That's just a little Australian shenanigans. I missed Australia. We used to have a great partnership with Sydney. And we would do a launch festival there. And I'm considering bringing Foundry University back to Australia or New Zealand.
