All of these exact same things that I learned over 40 years as an entrepreneur, all of these little tips and tricks and secrets of how to break apart a problem, about triage and focus and culture, were equally valid no matter what your dream was.

That everybody has these ideas, and the process of taking an idea and making it real is the same whether you're trying to launch a multi-million dollar tech startup, or whether you just want to do something better with your own life. And so my passion from that point forward began being that my job is to take these people who have these ideas and feel that they can't go anywhere with them unless, unless I have a degree, unless I have money, unless I have a co-founder, unless I have a backer, blah, blah, blah, blah, I've heard them all, and convince them that that's bullshit, that there are ways to get started, that it is not as complicated or as difficult or expensive as you think it is, and that the real barrier to getting started is you.

Okay, welcome back or welcome to the Finding Mastery podcast. I'm Michael Gervais, and by trade and training, I'm a sport and performance psychologist, as well as the co-founder of Compete to Create. And if you like this podcast, and you haven't checked out Compete to Create yet, I really hope that you do, it would mean a lot to me. And the whole idea behind this podcast, behind these conversations, is to learn from people who have committed their life efforts towards mastery of self.

And so we use craft as an excuse to really figure out what are the mechanics, what are the processes, what are the practices that they go through to build themselves to be resilient and dynamic, to be able to flourish in a life of high stress and high consequence, and when it's really on the line. How do they train their mind to become their very best?

I want to take a minute here to announce a really exciting event that we have coming up. As you continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2024, I want to pose a question. What are you doing right now to be great with stress? How are you working with stress on your pursuit towards your most important ambitions and goals? And I just want to get right to the heart of the key elements, one in particular, for what it takes to excel in today's high heat, high stakes world. Because stress is not the problem that we think it is. Stress is a synonym for change. And our ability to be agile with change, that is the real opportunity at hand. So if you're wanting to unlock extraordinary results and sustainable performance in your life, it's not about avoiding or reducing stress. And as simple as that sounds, it's very tricky to do, but it is about fundamentally changing your relationship with it.

And that's why I'm so thrilled to invite you to a special event. It's a free virtual event that we're offering. And it's called The Power of Embracing Stress. It's on Wednesday, March 6th at 2 p.m. Pacific.
