Hello, and welcome to SideQuest. This is our weekly video game show here at GeekVerse. I'm your host, Dylan West, and I have with me the Lord of the End Times, Kirklin Patzer. How are you doing tonight, my friend?

**Kirklin Patzer** (0:30)
I'm doing good, thanks for having me. I feel like that's one of my most badass names that I've had on a SideQuest episode, perhaps.

**Dylan West** (0:37)
Super badass, I don't know what it means, but I'm curious to find out. Maybe I won't find out. It'll just be an ominous thing circling the back of my brain for this next hour, hour and a half.
Yeah, thank you for joining me. It's kind of a last-minute switch up. You came in to save the day here, and we kind of have a last-minute topic as well, but I think it's a fun one and it's a slightly topical based on a couple of news things. We're going to talk about the best and worst of video game box art, which I feel like is a topic we've circled before, but we're going to tackle it in a bigger way, which should be fun. Before that, we'll talk about some of the games we've been playing, and honestly, we'll just get right into that now, and I'll kick it over to you, Kirklin. What have you been playing recently?

**Kirklin Patzer** (1:18)
Yeah. So I, unfortunately, don't have anything fun or exciting new games-wise to share, but Dylan, I jumped back into Project Zomboid.
I was doing a little bit of a run on that, and man, I don't know how many hours I got into this. This was like a one-session playthrough. Playthrough meaning, of course, I ended up dying at the end of it, which was just so heartbreaking, but I think it was like a five-hour session where I was so deep in, and I was really, really set up in an area of the world that I don't really start in. I started in Moldrow, I think it's called, or Moldrow, whatever, however you pronounce it, but it's basically a higher population zombie area, so the start of it is super, super chaotic, and I ended up just running for my life for a couple days, but eventually got a little bit set up, got a little bit of a base going, and I started playing with some more mods added to it, and it's just so much more satisfying. Now, yeah, I was really, really set up at the beginning. I was doing some long haul raids on really far away warehouses to get a lot of building materials, which I just felt like I was in such a position where I'm like, man, I could really just make this last forever, this one run here, and I ended up getting a little bit cocky, and I tried to raid this gun shop to just load up and just get ready for anything, and then ended up just biting off a little bit more than I could chew. I got a little bit cornered, and I leapt out of a second store window. My character broke his leg. I was limping forever. I just managed to escape and get a splint made and everything, and I was all right, and then that same evening, I ended up just turning a corner, and a zombie just grabbed me and bit me, and it was just so demoralizing, because like I said, I played for a handful of hours, and I was feeling really good about that play through, and man, you just got to play so safe when you're playing that game. You get a little bit too cocky, and it just equals your death. But no, a really, really fun game. I have so much fun every time I jump back in there, especially if it's been a little bit of time, since the last time I played it. I feel like just some of the mechanics, I kind of forget how in-depth that game really is, and it's so satisfying. Especially once you get a little bit more of a grasp of the mechanics, and just how to manipulate the zombie hordes, and just really get leveled up on your crafting and stuff like that. It's just such a rewarding game and experience. Yeah, no, it's super fun. I still haven't played the newest build, Build 43, I think it is.
The one that they re-did a bunch of the, basically just all the mechanics. I think they have animals that you can harvest now, and get some livestock and stuff like that. I'm really excited for that to eventually go on the main server. I think it's on the unstable version of the game right now on Steam. But yeah, no, it's fantastic game. I've definitely got my money's worth out of that one. Because of course, it's still in early access, so it's not a full price game.
