Welcome to The Bernard Lee Poker Show here on June 10th. It is the third week, and you believe it already, the third week of the World Series of Poker. This weekend, this coming weekend, marks about the halfway point of the World Series. So as always, it comes up, everyone anticipates the World Series, and then suddenly it is flying by. I want to get you up to date of all of the news. We have had some incredible tournaments over the past week or so. So let's get you to all of that news. When we talked last, the Millionaire Maker was underway, and that event was the second largest event in the history of the World Series of Poker, only behind the 2006 World Series main event won by Jamie Gold. That had 8,773 players. This one just missed the 8,000 player mark, 7,977 players played in this event, and was ultimately won by Jonathan Diemig. He was from Buffalo, and he's proud to take the championship home. He said that he just wanted to get through day one, and he did, obviously, and day two was the best day of his life. He finished seventh last year in a deep stack, and he was definitely disappointed. Well, he's not disappointed now, as he took down the millionaire maker, 7,977 players. He won over $1.3 million. Jeffrey Colbert takes down second for almost $816. James Duke takes down $614,000.
So congratulations to Jonathan for taking down that event. In addition to that, the 7-card Raz event was huge. Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, heads up. The battle went back and forth. Phil Hellmuth ultimately lost to Ted Forrest in that, as he tried to win his 14th bracelet. In addition to that, the 1500 No Limit Hold'em shootout, 948 players, Alex Bolotin won the event. We will have him on the show today talking about that event. Also, one of the other biggest draws of the week was the deuce to 7, 10K, No Limit Lowball event. Only 87 players. All the best of the best come out for this event. The final table, John Manetti, Brian Rask, Jason Mercier, but ultimately is Paul Volpe vs. Daniel Negrano. Negrano trying to win his 7th bracelet. Unfortunately, it was not to be as Paul Volpe took down his first for over $250,000.
