And this is The Big Picture, a conversation show about animals, mommies, and Big Ben. Today on the show, Amanda and I will dig into the weekend's Jessica Chastain starring horror hit Other Mommy, as well as the new film, Animals, which premiered on the Netflix streaming service over the weekend, Animals, is the latest directorial effort from Amanda's spirit animal, Ben Affleck. And yet we have never built a hall of fame for the actor, writer, director, former Batman Ben Affleck. So we will do that very thing today on the show as well. But first, some movie news right after this.

This episode is brought to you by LinkedIn ads. Ever invest in something that seemed incredible at first, but didn't live up to the hype? Marketers know that feeling. Sean Fennessey (2:38)

Okay, Amanda, I transport you back to 1985

Amanda Dobbins (2:42)

Yeah.

Sean Fennessey (2:43)

You are doing what?

Amanda Dobbins (2:46)

Learning to walk.

Sean Fennessey (2:48)

Maybe if you're lucky.

Amanda Dobbins (2:49)

Maybe.

SPEAKER_1 (2:49)

I think at that point.

Sean Fennessey (2:51)

1985, this is an important year at the cinema next year because Miami Vice 85 is officially happening. We've seen some early images from this film. It's going to star Michael B. Jordan as Tubbs and Austin Butler as Crockett. How many episodes of the television show Miami Vice have you ever seen?

Amanda Dobbins (3:10)

I was going to say who is who. Assuming that I know the names, I don't, really.

Sean Fennessey (3:16)

So you've not seen Miami Vice before?

Amanda Dobbins (3:19)

I have seen the Michael Mann film.

SPEAKER_1 (3:20)

Okay.

Amanda Dobbins (3:21)

And I'm sure I've seen an episode or two, you know, in the orbit of my father. But it's the same way I've, like, quote, unquote, seen episodes of Columbo, you know, which is just, it was on.

SPEAKER_1 (3:33)

Okay.

Amanda Dobbins (3:33)

And my dad is like, hey, what's up? And I was not really paying attention.

Sean Fennessey (3:37)

Did you happen to see, thank you for bringing up Columbo, Andrew Garfield on Goodhang's Peter Falk?

Amanda Dobbins (3:42)

Incredible. What the? It was so, so good.

Sean Fennessey (3:45)

Obviously, he's the goat, but I was like, you have a Peter Falk in your bag? That was amazing. Anyhow, I love Columbo. Miami Vice, not a huge show for me, but definitely something I watched growing up a little bit as well. This new movie is not related to the Michael Mann film, although it is clearly inspired very much by the series that Michael Mann helmed, directed by Joseph Kaczynski, coming off of Top Gun Maverick and F1, written by Dan Gilroy.

Amanda Dobbins (4:08)

Yes.

Sean Fennessey (4:09)

Tony Gilroy's brother, the writer of a number of films. You know, obviously, this is very interesting to Chris Ryan.

Amanda Dobbins (4:17)

For you, how do you feel about this? We need a Phone a Friend segment. It's just like, phone a CR.

SPEAKER_1 (4:22)

I'm following his lead.

Sean Fennessey (4:23)

There's been this wave of news connected to his soul, right? So, and he hasn't been on the show in a minute. Maybe next time he comes back, we'll get a full download from him.
