Welcome to How to Build an 8 Figure Agency. My name is Jordan Ross, and I'm your host. And over the course of this journey, we're going to be interviewing 8 Figure Agency owners and going through the systems that I've seen work and we've implemented into our clients' businesses that have helped our clients add a half a billion dollars in annual recurring revenue over the last handful of years. I myself have already hit the 8 Figures in annual recurring revenue, and when I got there, I wasn't happy. I was stressed, I was dissatisfied, I didn't like the people I was working with. So I clicked the restart button and went from 12 million in annual portfolio revenue back down to the mid-seven-figure level to a climb back again. And on this journey, I'm going to be documenting my process on how I'm getting backstage figures and bringing you expert industry leaders who will tell you everything they did to get there as well. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy the episode.
What is good, agency owners? Today we have a really fun conversation. We have Matt Putra. He is my fellow Hampton founder, and this guy runs a CFO firm, DDC Consumer Goods, and he is a builder. He's a tinker. He's an AI forward guy. He is hyperactive in the Hampton AI channel. And I wanted to bring him on because he is always talking about really cool shit he's building. And I think as someone who runs, you run more than one business now too. You have maybe the main thing, but I know you also have some AI developments.
As someone who is a founder, who is previously not technical, you correct me if I'm wrong, like I wanted to bring him on to introduce himself. And then there's a marketing hub he's been building. I want to talk about that. So Matt, for everyone that does not know you, who is Matt, what is Eightx? And then let's get straight into what we're talking about today.
**Matt Putra** (1:48)
Man, who am I? Father and husband, I got four kids.
Four kids, man. My oldest is 12, my youngest is five. Oldest and youngest both play soccer. I play soccer. I coach soccer. I'm a fanatic. I think if I could retire early, I will coach soccer full-time. So with work stuff, obviously, I was appointed by a board as CFO at 32, found the thing that I love doing and didn't want to do it full-time for corporate. So broke off and now doing it for companies around the world.
**Jordan Ross** (2:24)
I love soccer too, but my son, my eldest is two and my youngest is eight months.
But Matt, my son's a soccer prodigy. He was 16 months or 15 months. I bought a ball, put it in front of him, and he dribbled the shit out of it. His first time ever touching a ball. I called my dad, I said, we're going pro. So I now know that you're a fanatic.
**Matt Putra** (2:47)
My son walked at 11 months old and we put a ball at his feet. So same thing.
**Jordan Ross** (2:53)
I wanted to bring you on to talk about the marketing hub you built. So by the end of this conversation, what might I have insight into or have learned just by talking about your marketing hub and going through it?
**Matt Putra** (3:05)
Yeah.
Visibility has become incredibly important for anybody that owns any business. And the problem is that there are a million channels and how do you manage a lot of them? And I probably now have the output of three people, but I'm one person, part-time. The other part of this is like, I'm talking PR, blogs, newsletter, three days a week newsletter, Twitter, Reddit, a ton of shit, and I'm managing it all personally. But because it's now inside of a software, I can then hire for it and get the same standard that I'm getting from doing it personally for most parts of the marketing that I got to do.
**Jordan Ross** (3:50)
Hell yeah, man. Dude, when did you start building this? So how many months into this dashboard are you? And for marketing stuff in general, like you're only two months in, have you been seeing any increase in calls booked or demand?
**Matt Putra** (4:05)
Yeah, 100%, man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We are crushing right now in the LLMs and in GEO against others in my sort of market.
**Jordan Ross** (4:17)
Which is a very weak market, like your competitors are weak when it comes to this stuff naturally.
**Matt Putra** (4:22)
I'm crushing, dude, and they are all quite far ahead of me when it comes to like legitimate SEO. I shouldn't say legit. I would say old school, old school SEO. And it took me about two months and I'm smashing them. And I don't know that any of them know it. And maybe they will when they hear this.
