Hi, everyone, welcome to That's Me, That's Me. I'm Julia Jay.
Monica Kay (0:26)
And I'm Monica Kay.
Julia Jay (0:28)
And we are broadcasting from the beautiful Cincinnati Public Radio Studios. Here on That's Me, That's Me, we talk about what brought people back after their first meeting. So often we hear what got us to our first meeting, but we love hearing about what brought people back to their second and had that moment of, that's me, that's me.
Monica Kay (0:49)
Easy for you to say.
Julia Jay (0:51)
A little improvised there, whatever. You guys know.
Monica Kay (0:55)
I mean, we've only been doing this six months. Give us a break. How was your week, Julia? I'm so happy to be here.
Julia Jay (1:02)
I'm really happy to be here. I needed this this morning. Well, I don't know. All I can think about is Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. Yeah. So we're recording this a couple weeks before you all will hear it, but that happened this week.
And I'm really, I'm back at work full time. In the summer, I do part time and I'm back full time. And I'm really bummed because my friend that I'm sitting next to is getting her coin tonight and I don't get to give it at the home group. But I'm, because it's all about me.
I don't know. That's it. That's all I got. Yeah.
Monica Kay (1:42)
Well, you're really going to have FOMO last night because last night was my home group today. Because last night was my home group and I got my coin last night, Julia.
Julia Jay (1:51)
Thank God I wasn't the one giving it to you.
Monica Kay (1:56)
You made me think twice. Like, wait, am I supposed to be at my home group tonight? And I was even there. You weren't even there.
Julia Jay (2:03)
See, I'm so into myself, I don't even have the day, right? Okay, so happy anniversary.
Monica Kay (2:07)
Thank you. Thank you, my friend. Yeah, it was a great week.
And I got to get back out on the water again, canoeing. Not my favorite thing in a canoe, but it was fun, was with a group of people who have never been out canoeing before. So we had a nice time. It was very gentle and lovely. It was a lovely day.
Julia Jay (2:23)
Cool. Yeah.
Monica Kay (2:24)
And I heard of something this week that has really stuck in my head. Every now and then you hear something and it's like, that's going to stay in my head forever, like in a good way. And I was in this, oh, so I go to this meditation meeting and the woman who was doing the meditation, anyway, blah, blah, blah. And one of the things she said was, and it was from a reading and it said, our actions are our only true belongings. Whoa.
And she did this thing where she reads a series of things, pauses for like five minutes, reads the same things, pauses and then reads them again. So it's interesting way of, I forget what that's called, but it's a very specific thing people do when they do the three reading thing. But yeah, it's really just kind of like, you know, in a lovely way, it just dug itself right into my brain, and it's been in the front of my mind kind of every day.
Julia Jay (3:22)
I like that. I actually, I have something that I heard this week that's doing the same thing. And I heard, do you want to be right, or do you want to be peaceful? And that was like mind blowing to me, because, you know, my friend Alison and I were joking about like being right and happy. Isn't that the same thing?
Monica Kay (3:40)
Well.
Julia Jay (3:42)
Right?
Monica Kay (3:42)
Yeah, this woman I've been talking about from Austin was saying exactly that. She was like, I hate when people say right or happy, because she's like, well, both. So I like peaceful.
Julia Jay (3:53)
Yeah, right. Right or peaceful, because that's not always the same thing. Pretty wild. So that's my nugget this week. But I like belongings, because I like belongings, because it means that somehow maybe you can set some down. Right? Give them away.
Speaking of giveaway, I'm going to I'm going to reveal a little bit about Monica. She likes to recycle stuff. And I brought her a little.
Monica Kay (4:17)
No, I love love.
Julia Jay (4:19)
Yeah. And I brought her, I call it her bag of dopamine. When I bring her like stuff to that she can take recycling. So maybe it's like that, like the belongings that we have, we can put them down, right?
