Well, hello everybody, welcome back.

See how I say that so confidently, like people have been listening every week. Welcome to That's Me, That's Me. I am Monica Kaye.

Julia Jay (0:32)

And I'm Julia Jay.

Monica Kaye (0:34)

And we're broadcasting from the beautiful Cincinnati Public Radio studios. Here on That's Me, That's Me, we talk about what brought people back after their first meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. We so often hear people talk about what brought them to their first meeting, but we love hearing about what brought somebody back again for their second meeting. What did they see, hear, feel that encouraged them to return to the rooms? I'm done. Okay.

Hi there, Julia. How are you?

Julia Jay (1:00)

I just was waiting for the, in the moment they began to relate and say to themselves, that's me, that's me. Whatever. You know what? We've never done like a, we tried to do like a formal, you know, like intro, right? And then we never could start the podcast when we were in the booth because it would be like this weird transition for us. So you guys get a different version every week.

Monica Kaye (1:25)

I'm going to slip that in after I ask you about your week. I'm going rogue on you here this morning.

Julia Jay (1:30)

Okay.

Monica Kaye (1:33)

I know that doesn't suit well with your OCD, that rogue does not fit into that category. But anyway, how was your week?

Julia Jay (1:40)

I'm the definition of rogue, I feel like. My week was good.

I don't know. I feel like every week I talk about my teenage boys because they are kind of like the center of the world for me. They went back to school yesterday, which was really lovely.

And my husband has been out of town, which I think I shared last week. I was really glad that he went to go see his family. But then when the power went out, I was really mad at him. And I got over that quickly. He came back and I am absolutely thrilled he's back. He's like a little fairy that walks around the house and cleans. And I walk in and all of a sudden everything is super clean. I really tried to keep things clean, but it is just a different level with him. So I'm really grateful because it brings down my anxiety. And but yeah, my boys, I was in my fields last night because my boys are, I have now have my baby as a freshman and my oldest as a junior. And I got all like, I just had big feelings about my junior going away to college, even though it was his first day of junior year. We have two years, but I could tell I was kind of a mess last night. So reached out to some women, cried a little, and now I'm here and I'm really excited. How about you?

Monica Kaye (3:01)

Cool. Every morning I wake up thinking a little fairy might have cleaned my house, but so far nobody's appeared.

Julia Jay (3:08)

I'm not sure Brad would love that I called him a little fairy, but I think it's kind of funny. It also happens to be his birthday today, the day we're recording. So if he listens, which he doesn't, happy birthday, Brad.

Monica Kaye (3:19)

Happy birthday, Brad. Yeah, I had a great week. This past weekend was our AA our clubhouse where we have our AA meetings. Oak Street, you guys hear us talk about it all the time. It was our 81st anniversary celebration. So that was fun. It was a great gathering. And Mark T did a beautiful history of the building, which is always so fun to listen to. I also finally got back out on the water again.

I'm sorry this isn't going to drop for two or three weeks because the month of August at Cowan Lake in upstate Ohio is super special because they have the American lotus flowers that bloom there. They have two huge, what they call, blooms, so like kind of pods of lily pads and these gigantic lotus flowers that stand about a foot and a half or two feet out of the water on these stems. It's just like the most magical thing. So I took my paddleboard up there and spent a few hours just taking about two, I said to myself, I'm not going to just take a lot of pictures, I'm just going to enjoy it. And then I took like 700 pictures of lotus flowers. And maybe I'll put one on our Instagram page. But it's really special and it only happens, I think, in Ohio, on these two lakes in Ohio. So we're really, really lucky, fortunate to have that. So that was really nice. And then it was good to be back in my home group last night. Last week, we got, because of the storms and the electricity being out across most of the greater Cincinnati area, we were unable to meet. So it felt really good to have the group conscience and snuggle into my home group last night.
