Hey, everybody, welcome back to That's Me, That's Me. I'm Monica Kaye.
**Julia Jay** (0:27)
And I'm Julia Jay.
**Monica Kaye** (0:30)
Here on That's Me, That's Me, we talk about what brought people back after their first meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. What did they see here feel that encouraged them to return to the rooms?
And every week, we invited guests to share their story of what brought them back to their second meeting and the moment they began to relate and say to themselves, that's me, that's me.
**Julia Jay** (0:49)
That is what we do.
**Monica Kaye** (0:52)
That's a reminder for us, not necessary. I'm teasing.
**Julia Jay** (0:56)
I'm telling you, though, anchoring, like, rituals, I think, are really important. So for a while, we tried to record that and then have Mike add it in. This feels so much more natural, like, gets us ready. When we were not recording it on each episode, remember, we'd be like, okay, hey.
**Monica Kaye** (1:16)
Yeah, hard to get some momentum. How was your week, Julia?
**Julia Jay** (1:19)
It was, it was good.
I feel like we were here six years ago. This was a long week. I don't even know what happened, but it's May. That's what I, that's what I'm blaming. I'm getting ready to go to Indy, to the Indianapolis 500 For those of you that know me, I go every year. This will be my 30th time. Yep, started going when I was one years old. No kidding. My first time was when I was 15 So I've only missed one, yeah, since then. Pretty wild.
How about you?
**Monica Kaye** (1:57)
Yeah, that's quite a commitment, 30 years for an event. I remember one time I saw you and you had on checkered shoes, like the checkered flag, and I was like, oh, she's serious, a serious Indianapolis 500 gal. She doesn't mess around. She's got all the right clothing and everything. Yeah, no, I had a great week.
You know, lots of family stuff. The weather was lovely, lots of yard work. It just felt, you know, like just really lovely to be in the dirt.
And, oh, I had my first pickleball experience ever. First time I played, so you know, you guys have heard me talk about my sister moving to town, which means now we have a team. There's four of us, and there's a court near my sister that nobody goes to, so nobody's watching us, which was perfect. And we just went, and, you know, we all grew up playing tennis, but it's been decades since I played. And so, you know, you have a little bit of muscle memory, but it's super, super different. And some of the, some of my, like, aches and pains and injuries have come from, like, just swinging with all my might and hitting nothing, like that kind of strain, which is pretty embarrassing. The racket is so much shorter. So I'm having a little perception issue, but we've committed to playing once a week now together. And besides getting to be on the court and learning something new and getting some exercise, like what a joy to be able to do something like that with my family.
**Julia Jay** (3:17)
So my brother turns 50 this weekend, and we're going to a pickleball, like indoor pickleball dinner situation. And last night, my sister-in-law texted and was like, just confirming you guys are both going to play pickleball, because we're going to organize a round robin. And I had this moment where I was like, because my brother's friends are all pretty fit, and like, you know, we're working out all the time. And I had this moment where I looked at Brad, and I was like, I'm going to be the worst one there. I'm going to be the person. And he's like, yeah.
He didn't say like, no.
He's like, yep, you are. I'm like, darn it. So, oh well, I'll have to, I guess somebody's got to be the worst. I have no eye-hand coordination. It's terrible.
**Monica Kaye** (4:05)
Well, I was the worst in our group, so welcome to the club.
You know, I had an injury a handful of years ago where I fell and broke my leg, and I have this, I didn't know that I have this little bit of fear of falling. So, any of those like racing to the net, you know, running backwards, backpedaling. Anyway, it's going to take me a little while to get up my bravery, but nonetheless, you're going to have a good time.
**Julia Jay** (4:28)
Yeah. Speaking of a good time.
**Monica Kaye** (4:31)
Oh, excellent segue.
**Julia Jay** (4:35)
