From downtown London, it's The Totally Football Show with our live Sunday night roundup.
Today, Manchester Derby controversy. Man City go down to 10 after red card for Foden, but hold on to beat United with a Stockley Park special. Elsewhere, Hull draw away at Stamford Bridge. Balloumi with a brace.
Spurs continue to register nils like a Danish census. And Coventry also goalless and pointless too. Lots to discuss in this Totally Football Show. And here we are in the studio. Many thanks if you're joining us for our live experience on a Sunday evening, 13th of September. Or if you're joining us thereafter, you'll still be enjoying the sweet sounds of Colin Miller. Hello Colin.
Colin Millar (0:49)
Hello James.
James Richardson (0:50)
Also Tom Williams. Hello James. Lovely to see you, Tom Williams. And on the big screen with big opinions, Stuart James. Welcome Stuart.
Stuart James (0:59)
Thanks for having me on James. Good to see you.
James Richardson (1:01)
Well, it's really, really great to have you with us because I don't know if you've seen this at all on The Athletic, but Stuart's doing a very excellent piece every Monday, Tuesday called, well, Who's Won the Weekend in the Premier League? Might be a snappier title than that. But the amazing thing is that for that article, Stuart has every week been watching every single game in the Premier League in its entirety.
So far you've watched, how many of this weekend's games have you watched so far, Stuart?
Stuart James (1:32)
Seven, so I'm up to, where does that leave us now?
37, is that right? 47, 37, 37
James Richardson (1:39)
Well, 30, yeah, that would be right. Yeah, how fed up are you?
Tom Williams (1:43)
I watched an entire team season of games.
Colin Millar (1:46)
Oh gosh, I never thought of that.
Tom Williams (1:47)
Seasons worth of games, yeah.
Stuart James (1:49)
Wow, that is mad, yeah. I'm still enjoying it at the minute, James. I'm at the honeymoon stage, aren't I, at the moment. International break, I can't wait for that to happen though, and I've never felt like that before. I hate international breaks, but I'm now really looking forward to it. So I get a few weeks off from this, but it's been good fun too. And I'm learning loads about new players and what I perhaps didn't appreciate before.
So yeah, I'm really enjoying it actually.
James Richardson (2:13)
Which new player have you most appreciated that you didn't appreciate before then?
Stuart James (2:17)
Well, I feel like I should have known more about Sangari before he came to Brentford, but I didn't and he's been fab to watch, certainly in the first two games. And then I've really enjoyed watching Sunderland actually.
Siddiqui and Midfield has been fantastic. Other players I knew about, but I'm getting to see more of now. Alex Scott's been fantastic. So yeah, it's good. I mean, I'm still trying to explain the concept to people. Some people get really worked up about the fact that their team won and that they appear lower in our ranking table than a team that drew. But that's the whole point of it. It's about performance and not result or data necessarily. So it's very subjective. But yeah, I felt like the only way I could do this fairly would be to watch the game in its entirety. And in that way, I've got a good perspective of whether a team played well or not. Obviously, people can argue with that, of course. But yeah, at least I can say I've watched the game in full.
James Richardson (3:10)
Amazing.
Colin Millar (3:11)
Yeah, this sort of volume of matches to watch and consume that much football is very challenging. It reminds me actually, this is going back quite a few years, but there was a football writer called Thomas Mortimer, who set himself a challenge of watching at least one football match every day of the year. So all 365 days, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, he had to find a match that was on and watch it, and watch it in its entirety. And I think like he used to, at the start, he was very enthusiastic about the whole thing, about the sort of, the novelty of the challenge, but I don't want to put too much of a downer on it, but his spirits were fairly crushed about midway through, I think.
James Richardson (3:50)
Well, international break coming up. What about a piece doing, who won the international break? I don't know what you would think about that.
Stuart James (3:58)
Just to keep you ticking over.
James Richardson (3:59)
Just to keep you ticking over. The good thing is that matches come along like the Manchester Derby that just gives you so much to talk about and prove so very enthralling. Tom, I know you were with the Canal Plus yesterday for Man City Day, but the drama at Old Trafford is going to be, I think, the big talking point this week.
